  1. I'm still playing at running it in. I only have a metre test track here. It'll probably have a good run tomorrow or the next day. I'll see what it'll pull on the flat and up a 1:40. It shouldn't be too bad, it's a fair weight, especially considering the size - they've pretty well filled all the spare space with metal - and it's quite low-geared.
  2. I just found myself with a hundred quid I wasn't expecting and so, rather than waste it on food or heat, I decided to splurge some of it on a GSR(I) Sentinel - at last. I clicked the OK button at 1:30 on Friday afternoon and the postman handed it to me at 9:30 on Saturday morning. Top marks to Kernow for service! It's a nicely finished little thing, although I'll do something to camouflage the bit of circuitry that's visible through the windows. It's taken a good bit of running in and is a lot quieter now, but it was fairly noisy to start with. I found that a spot of oil into the sintered bushes on the motor made quite a difference. It's nicely low-geared. The body comes off nice and easily, although there is little to deal with inside.
  3. MIR bogie cement, unmade, starting at 46 quid - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230783086061&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:GB:1123

  7. On the old site, we did discuss an 0 Gauge 201 that got as far as a prototype being produced - I'm sure that you will remember who did it before I do...
  8. 0 Gauge 071 - http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/156-O-Gauge-071 ...
  9. I had to give up at that point - I couldn't do 'waggly'... Latin's by no means dead - it's alive enough for people to annoy me almost daily with mis-uses of - tandem, album, stigma, etc.. And, don't get me started on 'telescopic', even if it is Greek - you won't see very far with them shock-absorbers, will you..?
  10. Latin was almost the only useful thing that I got out of schools after the age of ten - Quantum ille canis est in fenestra?
  11. Ladders and walkways on the shed look very good - health and safety!..
  12. If the Americans want to speak English then they should have to pay a licence fee, and pass a test - otherwise it's Navaho, or something like that, for them... Just wait until I take over. The lifting bridge is quite do-able - but the slightly raised hinges are an important feature for a successful device.
  13. The usual thing is to have the hinges mounted just above the board surface - see the blocks in the picture - this allows the track by the hinges to rise without clashing with the fixed track. The track is cut on the break-line where the door joins the fixed top. A picture of the top of the door when it's open would explain it... Or try http://www.brian-lambert.co.uk/Hints%20&%20Tips.htm#Lifting Bridge Section And, is it Hazelwood or Hazlewood? I think we should be told..
  14. Mmm, I'll think keep my distance if I spot you - there's always the possibility of a back-fire..
  15. He's not that far from the old De Lorean factory - maybe has has special facilities...
  16. And with paper chimney pots, too - the sign of the dedicated modeller..

  19. He's only about twenty miles from me. I don't actually know him, but the 'local' shop owner seems to rate him highly..
  20. Maybe give Roger a call - http://www.keen-systems.com/page10.html - he's a good chap, by all accounts.
  21. He lives in the North - I always find that we have to turn UTV down a notch..
  22. Would any of the Keen-Systems stuff be suitable? http://www.keen-systems.com/page2.html
  23. It's poor supervision, really. That's the bonus gone.. Don't worry, only a pedantic bugger would notice it.
  24. Would the 'Bus Lane' script not be the other way round, i.e., to be viewed from a bus driving towards it on the left, if you see what I mean?
