  1. Virgin starts court action - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-19402133 - after offer to run it free of subsidy whilst it's reviewed is rejected by the Government.
  2. Great find.
  3. We talked about guards from here on for a bit - http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/283-My-new-loft-layout?p=5003&viewfull=1#post5003
  4. Do things run OK over that point at the right-hand side in the second picture? The one that sends the outer track over the crossing. It looks a little bit 'steppy' at the join in the baseboard, where the point meets the cross-over. Maybe it's just the angle of the photo...
  5. It's probably quite easy to do - driving different trailers, etc.. There used to be a light-beam device* on the approach to the Mountrath Road bridge in Portlaoise that lit up a sign on the bridge if you were high enough to break the beam. I'm not sure if it's still there. The one good thing about that bridge is that it's not square to the road, thus softening the blow a bit, and the angle tends to roll things away from the oncoming traffic, as in the picture above, it would be even more exciting if it was the other way.. There's even a video on YouTube of a chap hitting a bridge after forgetting to lower the tipper body.. *This - https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=portlaoise&hl=en&ll=53.033776,-7.304114&spn=0.00135,0.002411&hnear=Portlaoise,+County+Laois,+Ireland&t=h&z=19&layer=c&cbll=53.033774,-7.303907&panoid=HQyY3gXRsyliIHt9-zFiOg&cbp=12,200.3,,1,-11.06 - doesn't look how I remember it, maybe they've installed a new one, but there doesn't seem to be the lit sign on the bridge** now.. **Ah, there it is - https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=portlaoise&hl=en&ll=53.033802,-7.305688&spn=0.00135,0.002411&hnear=Portlaoise,+County+Laois,+Ireland&t=h&layer=c&cbll=53.033806,-7.305836&panoid=gJZTOgQQnF-Vr3b8yy6zKw&cbp=12,209.96,,2,-3.85&z=19 - before you get to the bridge..

    V-signs

Other level-crossing-related signage is detailed at the bottom of this - http://www.irishrail.ie/media/LevelCrossingweblores1.pdf
  7. I don't want to complicate issues more than they already are, but won't the Seep / Peco type point motors work on either AC or DC? http://www.gaugemaster.com/instructions/pm2.pdf If you want to use a capacitor discharge device to promote reliable switching, then, of course, DC would be necessary.
  8. I have a vague idea that it's been done... Loads of UK examples here - http://www.fictitiousliveries.co.uk/ - and an 89 in Supertrain..
  9. I've just been given a 66 - that might have to be done. It actually does look better... But, for me - the past was bright, the past was orange...
  10. This disease knows no boundaries..
  11. I think it's an improvement - though, they might think about having the doors in a contrasting colour.

Makes it look as easy as Peco...
  17. I don't think that I've ever been logged out except by myself or by a failed shut-down/power cut. Not much help, maybe - but it does mean that you should be able to stay in..
  18. Mmm - I would wait until you've seen 'em...
  19. I would suggest the wearing of badges when attending gatherings where there may be others from the Forum present - with the appropriate avatar showing - it would make identification easier..
