  1. And now they are building on their dreams to beat Belgium.
  2. Seen at the Returns Department of Ikea
  3. This is what compromise looks like............
  4. Exactly, I've reduced a lot of the length but it is still visually appealing, thanks
  5. Just spent the morning going through the text and pictures David, an amazing wealth of modelling expertise you have shared with us here. It just takes you back to rural Ireland during the Clogher Valley era. A superb reference. Thanks
  6. Back to the design stage with trammel and point templates, some progress!
  7. Fascinating piece of work. It is remarkable to see the standard and level of expertise.
  8. The Goods Store in Omagh was huge, measure well over 700mm in scale length. I would rather not start shortening it and narrowing it but I have considered the possibility of modelling it on a curve. Would it look awful?
  9. They're coming home!
  10. All the signs of either an architect or an engineer at work, am I correct Warb?
  11. Yes, but my railway design skills are another matter!
  12. A little bit of an extension added today..........
  13. I have 5 x Peco SL-E198 Large Radius Y points as new £40 (postage not included) and 5 x pack of Gaugemaster Point Motors (unopened/unused/new) for £20 No longer available
  14. I have about six maybe seven Peco electrofrog Code 75 Y points for sale. They are used because they were connected to a layout for testing but neither soldered or pinned. They are like new in original packing. PM if interested Tony
  15. Previous efforts at shunting layouts have led to complex pointwork and wiring. This created much frustration especially when locos had nowhere to travel. thanks
  16. Sounds good. Apart from the complex point work at Omagh Goods Yard when the line left the station area, in either direction, there was nothing but a single line of track all the way to the next stop. With this in mind, I think there is a need to raise the entire track enough all round to form embankments and bridges to give an illusion of reality. Therefore, i'll be keeping the area off the station area very simple. No point in complicating things. Thanks
  17. David, thanks. I get you. Mainline with passenger stock to the back scene and wagon stock to the inside of the baseboards where curves are tighter. Correct?
  18. At the moment I have two options that raise some thought. Moving my goods yard into the right corner (in bottom picture) and running the main line across the front of the baseboards, or I can move the Goods Yard buildings to the small unpainted triangle on the left and run the continuous main line behind it along the walls. Whats the best way to do this. The first option is set out roughly at moment, below.
  19. Finally made the move and made a total restart in the shed, below you can see that I am now using all four walls of the shed and want to see those GNRi locomotives moving with lots of goods on board. Ultimately I want two lines to allow continuous movement around the shed with sidings at various locations. So I’m back at the design stage, again but much happier with the baseboards now. The board at the shed door lifts in and out easily.
  20. Since there is nothing on in the North of the Island I would make a point of calling at Headhunters Museum, Darling Street, Enniskillen if you are in the area. Also, Transport Museum, Cultra, Belfast. That’s two days out anyway.
  21. Where baseboards meet at internal corners it is quite common to add small triangles to carry the curve of the trackwork. Surely it would look better to cut the baseboard top to the curve of the track leaving enough for ballast and some margin of safety?
  22. An excellent turntable kit by South Eastern Finecast, a manually operated kit with all parts included including worm gears. Never built, parts still in original packing with instructions, never opened. Cost £53 will accept £45 PM if interested. http://www.sefinecast.co.uk/Turntables/Turntables.htm
  23. Jonathan, Believe me the best mail order company I find are 'Track Shack' based in the Isle of Man. My orders arrive within 48hours at minimum cost. This includes lengths of flexi- track which they send out in sturdy cardboard tubing packed with foam. Postage usually £3 - £4. They carry a fantastic stock and they really care about their customers.
  24. Since the arrival of the UG and U Class locos at Omagh I have felt quite disheartened with my efforts to give them the opportunity to travel distance. Shunting is tedious and set my mind thinking of calling a halt to what I'm doing and possibly expand to allow movement around the entire shed. Would be nice to see these beauties travel. Hence, time for a rethink.......
