  1. Sorry but I loved the good old 80's. Many a cab ride was enjoyed between Ballymena and Coleraine, and with the right driver and a good 5 car set 90mph down Ballyboyland bank was not unknown and rather lively!!
  2. Coastal DCC are great to deal with and super quick dispatch too.
  3. Well sure its a change from an Irish layout with British stock as was so often the case for years!! Also helps raise awareness of how nice the Irish RTR stock that is available is and can only help sales of future releases.
  4. I think we require fertilizer to get a real explosion up North!!!
  5. OK that's enough to burst the bank account for about 2 years!!! Please don't tell us whats next until we get this all paid for!!
  6. Can't wait. Now that the ballast wagon has went to tooling has the "bubble" progressed?
  7. Just for some interest I emailed Oxford Rail about doing some Irish Mk3's and here is the reply. Hi Gareth, Thanks for the email, I remember them from journeys across Ireland in my youth! I think they’ve all now been scrapped from memory? It’s something we are looking at. I’d suggest you might want to sign up for our newsletter, that way you’ll get news of new items as quickly as possible. http://www.oxfordrail.com Kind Regards Tim Oxford Diecast is a leading British Company that supplies Diecast Vehicles and Collectable items in the Collector, Souvenir, FOB and Promotional Markets. 8. The crack is great. This is just what forums were made for!! If Rapido bring the Mark3 to the British market the model will be good but the price might just be the sticking point for many modellers.
  9. I think the width is only a bogie factor.
  10. How many people would be interested in a new run of IR/IE Mk3 coaches. Perhaps if all those interested registered their interest on here now and then Oxford Rail contacted about this thread they may consider including the Irish variations when producing the molds for the models. Oxford do tend to do a large range of colour schemes on any product they produce so lets hope if the feedback is positive here then who knows what could happen!! 11. Thats a great shot. Would be nice to recreate this in model form. I wonder when Murphy Models will do the Mark2's in IR Tippex livery??
  12. He is satisfied, he just wants Mr Murphy to maintain the standards he has set with the previous 201's and 071's. The pre-installed speaker and 21 pin DCC chip connection makes sound installation so simple.
  13. "On the way", Does that mean now or planned after the 121's?
  14. Happy 2016. Will it be the year of Murphy 121's and IRM Ballast Wagons!!!! Expensive
  15. 100mph running with correct pathing and a return to no stopping in Lisburn would make 90minutes possible. But as Translink is always obsessed with stopping every train in every station and IE determined to keep the Dart system running to schedule, don't expect too much!!!
  16. Here is some info from the past. I fitted all my Murphy Locos class141's 071's and 201's with the #19 Kadee with the 201's requiring a small piece of plastic card inserted in the pocket below the coupling to tighten it up. The end coupling of the Murphy Mk2's is a Kadee #20 with a 2mm screw fitted, this means that it is easy to revert back to the original couplings if desired. As I run in fixed rakes I then found that I could fit #19's to one coach and then #20's the next alternating throughout the rake and just using the coupling pockets without any mods. This gives me a rake that I can use on 24" curves minimum with no derailments and the minimum gap between coaches. They can also be reversed slowly and the loco can be uncoupled with under track magnets. Some pictures in flickr of the mod and the results. Some pictures in here just scroll down. Short demo video One vital piece of kit is a Kadee coupler gauge. http://www.kadee.com/htmbord/page206.htm
  17. After twenty years modelling north american I have made a small re-entry back to UK/irish modelling due to the ever improving quality. I also find Bachmann coaches a pain and this area of UK/Irish stock the most ignored part of modelling as it hasn't improved in certainly 25years. What couplings are you using between the Bachmann carriages? I eventually found the coupling bars supplied with the coaches the best solution and body fitted Kadee couplings (lots of experimenting) at the end of the rake the best solution. This is only really suitable to home based layouts that the stock can sit on all the time. I also work with a minimum of 24" radius curves and medium or large radius points.
  18. Happy Christmas, Enjoy your gifts, hopefully a little railway item will be one of them!! Tomorrow can we have a thread covering them!!
  19. Is the base chassis of these the same as the short container flats?
  20. Dave Jones Models as far as I am aware use Mercig to weather RTR products. This company is responsible for the best RTR weather ever seen in the UK so I'm pretty sure they could do a fantastic job on the "bubbles". Here is some examples. http://rmweb.co.uk/photos/BRM_Reviews/Bullet2.jpg http://www.ehattons.com/81649/Dapol_D1003w_LN_Class_52_Co_Co_Western_D1068_Western_Reliance_in_weathered_BR_blue_Limited_Edit/StockDetail.aspx

  22. That new coat of paint should have fixed everything!!!!!!
  23. With the extra PR of the mags, I wonder was there any noticeable pick up in orders??
