228RiverOwenboy Posted July 25, 2025 Posted July 25, 2025 162 was scrapped during this month. I believe that it was the second-to-last 141 to be in service until its withdrawal in mid-to-late 2011, although any corrections would be greatly appreciated. 1 1

Static exhibits need some form of security only thing useful would be a security cabin
AllThingsDiesel Posted March 31 Posted March 31 The remaining trio of Inchicore 141s (171, 147 and 177) have recently been moved from the sidings near the FCR to the north end of the Running Shed. This picture was taken earlier this afternoon when I was heading for Connolly. Photo credit: Myself! 7
jhb171achill Posted March 31 Posted March 31 To be fair, enough of these things are preserved now. Putting diesel on plinths doersn't tend to have a good ending in Ireland - indeed, putting anything railwayish on a plinth....

Unfortunately, some people are insatiable and overlook the fact that five 141s managed to survive into preservation (which is a lot, mind you!) and yearn for more. Edited April 1 by AllThingsDiesel 1

Anyone have any info on this and why they have been moved? On 4/4/2026 at 3:43 PM, ttc0169 said: They are to be moved over to the Connolly RPSI loco shed in the next few weeks, The sidings where they were, have been lifted and are to be relaid to stable the new BEMUs. 11 hours ago, K801 said: If IE gave them a suds and power wash, they would look great! Or maybe the power wash would strip them back to black and orange!
AllThingsDiesel Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Today marks the final time that the remaining stored 141s will be moved. 147, 171 and 177 were transferred individually from Inchicore Works to the RPSI's Connolly Sheds by locos 076 and 078. There are a multitude of pictures of this movement in certain places (e.g., Facebook groups), but I'll summarise it with one picture: Photo credit: Cian Daly (on Facebook) B141 has also received a fresh repaint at Inchicore and will also be moved back to Connolly Sheds at a later date. Westcorkrailway Posted April 18 Posted April 18 https://youtu.be/kln4LLRLjcY?is=-ei1-kLhQ_puwPu_ footage I attempted to capture of the movement. Very strange to get up close and personal with locos in that condition in Connolly! Plus a small sample of photos I took 5 2
DJ Dangerous Posted April 18 Author Posted April 18 Smashing photos and video, @AllThingsDiesel and @Westcorkrailway! What is the plan? To strip / dismantle them inside the shed and store the parts at Whitehead?

Newtoncork Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Sad to see such hard working locos in that state. Last time I saw freight out of Cork was 171 and 177 in a siding at Mallow with the bubbles. Think it was about 2006 but not sure.
DJ Dangerous Posted Saturday at 20:36 Author Posted Saturday at 20:36 What sort of price do IE sell off their retired locos for? In a few years time, we’ll be saying goodbye to a very small fleet of only 18 071 Class locos. It’d be nice to see them not get chopped up, but if the scrap value is the best that IE can get, they can’t stick all 18 into storage.

I’ll start taking donations here on the forum. €1000 buys you a plaque on the loco… €2000 buys you a bigger plaque… €5000 buys you an even bigger plaque and two weeks free accommodation! 1
