29101 worked the 07:35 ex Dublin today

Disgraceful putting a 29 on it. A rake of GNR ballast wagons would be more comfortable. Doubtless not even a tea trolley, let alone charging points or first class..........

This is why I worry so much about the silly idea of omitting toilets on the Dart +

Maynooth is currently a 45-minute run, if they manage to cut a generous 10 minutes off that its still a fair hike. Drogheda is currently an hour out from Connolly. Even if a good reduction in timing is achieved, that is a long hike indeed. Should they ever stretch their legs further into the country, many will have to cross their legs!

Strange, short-sighted planning when the whole idea of the batteries is to give them flexibility.

Hopefully, it will work to free up ICRs as the 29ks are sent down to Limerick, but what will come to fruition lies in the darkness of the future...

Malahide to Wicklow will be TWO hours! Well, now I sympathise with certain members of society who have been known to relieve themselves in or near seats....

at least being cantilevered, they'll be easier to clean under.

I quite like the Dart + overall but the lack of jacks completely boggles the mind.

Would call on within 5 years a new order of cars with jacks will be put in.

Agreed. They are needed. I have a free travel pass now - but, in all seriousness, while I'm OK for now, many my age and older NEED regular visits to such cubicles. In all reality, if you're caught short, you're caught short. It would be fine if the maximum journey on these things was ten minutes, but with increasing congestion and ever slower speeds, journey times are increasing. Lately, on a couple of occasions, I have had the misfortune to travel from Malahide to the DSER several times. I am going to Bray in the morning. I will be driving.

Dublin commuter routes, especially Drogheda - Wicklow, is painfully, and unacceptably slow. Every trains stops at every hole in the hedge, and they crawl between them at walking pace. It's an absolute ordeal. On NIR, even the stopping trains seem to get a bit of a move on, as do those in Cork; and yes, i do accept that one may not be comparing like with like there.

As from later this year, I will be regularly visiting a relative who is moving to the outskirts of Wicklow. Two hours of stop-starting, and no toilet? And the government wants me to use public transport?

Sorry, lads, you're having an absolute laugh.

Plenty of long S-Bahn trips in Munich with no toilets, overhead racks, charging points, tables....

Interesting that - Richard McLachlan is always telling me that unich is the Centre of the Universe and that Utopia is well behind it!

As for lack of loos, the Reading to Waterloo line is being run with 455 units which are loo-less - about an hour and a half's journey.  Why? Because they are reducing five coach 458 things back to four coach units - they don't need the capacity now that British "workers" work from whatever beach they're on this week!

Third World country would be an exaggeration!
