Galteemore Posted Monday at 21:00 Author Posted Monday at 21:00 Well it’s Fare Thee Well, Enniskillen……the layout now resides in an Oxfordshire skip. Joined by my model of Florencecourt station, which never really satisfied me. Recent rolling stock purchases meant that the layout/diorama just couldn’t work (see how big the bogie coach looks on Northport Quay). So out it goes as I just don’t have space to keep it. It was a valuable learning experience though. I tried to salvage some of the canopy columns but they broke apart. This means that the next project will be a complete fresh start. It’s still gestating and I will do a proper post soon. However, a trial effort was made tonight on the brickwork that will be required……. 11 1 1
David Holman Posted Monday at 21:16 Posted Monday at 21:16 Shame in a way as it was a fine looking diorama. However, needs must and the new idea you shared on Sunday will have much better operational use for the burgeoning GNR collection. 4 1
Darius43 Posted Tuesday at 07:13 Posted Tuesday at 07:13 Sorry to see this layout disappear. It was an evocative display for your amazing locomotives and rolling stock. Cheers Darius 2 1
Flying Snail Posted Tuesday at 07:58 Posted Tuesday at 07:58 The pictures of Enniskillen on here were lovely - looking forward to seeing the next layout: I hope the SLNCR will still call at it 1 1
Tullygrainey Posted Tuesday at 14:44 Posted Tuesday at 14:44 Ditching a layout, or any model you've spent time and effort building, is never easy David. I'm exceptionally bad at it. But I know that for you, like me, the pleasure is in the making and a new project will help ease the pain so best of luck with yours. I'll look forward to following its development. 1 1
Mayner Posted yesterday at 10:27 Posted yesterday at 10:27 I admire your ability to keep moving on to new projects and make the best uses of the available time and space. I have a pattern of planning sometime starting then loosing interest/never finishing layouts. Looking forward to seeing your next project, a home for both the GN & SLNCR perhaps 1
Northroader Posted yesterday at 13:21 Posted yesterday at 13:21 Small and simple and a Mills building, by the look, sounds alright to me. 1
