But, what about the IRM models you already own? Well, we have not forgotten about you either!

So, how about this? We are EXTENDING our lifetime manufacturer’s warranty to all models ever sold new by us, or new by our retailers in the past, too!....

I'm just after getting a flashback to this:

Not super impressed with the response from Accurascale on this.

There is a new warranty policy "to prioritise genuine warranty cases" which is that the item must be returned at my cost, after paying a £5 application fee. Provided the warranty claim is accepted, the £5 and postage cost will be reimbursed by way of a discount code against future purchases from the Accurascale website. So the customer is out of pocket, ok by a small amount, until such a time as they might choose to use the saving against another purchase. In my case I am sure I will use the discount code at some point, but even so it's not a genuine reimbursement. I understand there may be a need to manage the risk of false claims but it doesn't feel like the previously excellent service I've received from AS. My own opinion but I am not convinced a £5 "reimbursable" fee will deter someone trying to claim for their own damage, but it is irritating as a genuine customer with a genuine problem.

The last warranty return I had with them was brilliant. Ironically for the exact same surging motor problem, just a different loco (class 92). They supplied a free return post label, I sent it back, and a few weeks later it reappeared fixed. How it should be, IMO. Maybe I have been spoiled by what was previously a standout experience for the right reasons.
