ttc0169 Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Retro locomotive 220 was let loose on the IE network today having undergone an overhaul and repaint in the 1994 as delivered livery, Having celebrated its 30th year in service two weeks ago we see the locomotive on the 09:40 IWT liner-a few photos in the Mayo sunshine. 18
Flying Snail Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Nice to see another 90s livery rolled out. It really pops, especially in today's green 'n' grey world! 2 3
jhb171achill Posted March 15 Posted March 15 (edited) I have to say I never liked that livery - didn't think the yellow suited the orange and black - but there's no denying that looks really well. Edited March 18 by jhb171achill 1

Great to see this and one of the 071s at Ballina, like a throwback to the 1990s.... Now we await an ICR set in 1950s dark green with flying snails! Or one of the new Dart Pluses in GSR Drumm Train livery........??? Edited March 15 by jhb171achill 2 2
Railer Posted March 19 Posted March 19 I would have liken one of the 8100s repainted in the 1984 livery complete with CIE roundel last year but that wasn't to be. There was one set running around in the 90s with the Dublin Bus livery I think it was. I really liked that one with the richer shade of green. 2 1

That would have been nice indeed. Do you know if it was considered? The DART livery has remained relatively consistent over the years - in that it has remained green (although with various combinations/permutations). I wonder would that have put them off a retro 1984 livery, in that it wouldn't contrast as much against the current livery? 1

flange lubricator Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Perhaps set 8101 in original livery alongside the new Dart plus for the upcoming launch in 2026? 1 1
jhb171achill Posted March 19 Posted March 19 The only difference in the original DART livery was lining and logo. Both shades of green have always been the same. Dublin buses were the same green(s) in the early 1980s. 1
ttc0169 Posted March 19 Author Posted March 19 220 returned to Northwall on St Patrick’s day hauling the 10:05 IWT liner seen here north of Foxford station. 6 2

Just spotted 8101/8301 outside the south end of Fairvew depot this afternoon with all of its doors removed. Looked like it was going for a repaint like some of the other sets have recently got. 1
Branchline121 Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Seems like the crews have a preference for 220 at the moment, as I saw it out again today around 10 AM in the gullet on a 3-letter-liner. I would too seeing how clean and shiny it is! 1
