Tullygrainey Posted November 2, 2025 Posted November 2, 2025 Is that Morecambe and Wise on the bridge? 1 1 2

Darius43 Posted November 3, 2025 Author Posted November 3, 2025 Question: this looks like a shoreline navigational hazard marker. Is it that kind of sign and does anyone know what the seaward facing marking is/was? Cheers Darius 1
Galteemore Posted November 3, 2025 Posted November 3, 2025 (edited) It is a navigational sign. An email to County Antrim Yacht club might yield a reply:secretary@cayc.co.uk I can’t confirm what’s on the Whitehead one, but a similar one near Magheramorne (which I think the ferries use to align their track into Larne) looks like this: Edited November 3, 2025 by Galteemore 1

Darius43 Posted November 3, 2025 Author Posted November 3, 2025 Made a start on the down platform waiting room. Cheers Darius 10 7
Mol_PMB Posted November 3, 2025 Posted November 3, 2025 Excellent work - another little masterpiece. 1
Galteemore Posted November 3, 2025 Posted November 3, 2025 Fabulous. Having been engaged in something similar of late, it’s very satisfying modelling, watching a structure emerge from carefully arranged strips and sections of card/plastic - and is that some laser cut valancing/planking? Really captures look of original. 1
Darius43 Posted November 3, 2025 Author Posted November 3, 2025 Thanks guys but a closer look will show that the valancing is not laser cut; rather my good self with a Stanley Knife. Cheers Darius 2
Darius43 Posted November 3, 2025 Author Posted November 3, 2025 Dunpaintin and duntilin. Cheers Darius 10 1 3

This Facebook image of its twin on Cable Road seems to confirm the Whitehead Yacht Club one in your pic: https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=1318422055384161 Note the comment: "There was a second tall mast at the cable hut beside the yacht club. If you were at sea and lined them up, it would indicate the direction on the undersea cable of the sea bed and to avoid anchoring near it." Looking at Google Maps, the twin in the photo appears to have been at the junction of Cable Road and Balmoral Avenue but is no longer there. This one is on the Bull Wall in Dublin, though the font is different. Unfortunately no indication of the original colours of the pole or sign. https://maps.app.goo.gl/4cdsXZH2HELLm2g78 Edited November 3, 2025 by raven spelling 1 1
Darius43 Posted November 3, 2025 Author Posted November 3, 2025 (edited) Thanks Raven. That must be it - the clue is in the street name. Cheers Darius Edited November 3, 2025 by Darius43 2 1

leslie10646 Posted November 4, 2025 Posted November 4, 2025 Darius This is a Master Class at card modelling. I have a station building to remodel (wrong windows!) so I'm looking for tips! Great stuff. By the way, @Galteemore will tell you who to go to to get a 4mm scale model of the late Mac Arnold, Whitehead's other famous resident. The first was, of course, Harold Houston, designer of the B&L corridor coaches and the magnificent North Atlantic Express coaches. They'd make a nice pair for the platform! 3 2

Darius43 Posted November 6, 2025 Author Posted November 6, 2025 Worked on the access steps and porch today. Took it slow to ensure everything was level and true - ish. Also tiled the roof. The early photos show a chimney but this appears to be missing in photos of the early NIR era onwards. Cheers Darius 8 1
Galteemore Posted November 7, 2025 Posted November 7, 2025 Looks fabulous. Really captures the look - I had to look twice to notice what was missing! 2 1 1
