irishrail201 Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 Does anyone hear know anything about the Kerry model Railway Society? IR201 Quote
irishrail201 Posted May 23, 2013 Author Posted May 23, 2013 lol :D apart from that... its interesting because no one can seem to become a member or participate in any public events because there are none! Quote
minister_for_hardship Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Something to do with the Chester MRC T&DLR model layout that was exhibited in Dingle a while back? Quote
Blaine Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 If they have enough interest and their priorities in the correct order it could work. Quote
irishrail201 Posted May 24, 2013 Author Posted May 24, 2013 Im not so sure Blaine! No one seems to be able to join and take part as there are no events, I believe it has been done for business reasons only and not for the pure interest in model railways Quote

irishrail201 Posted May 24, 2013 Author Posted May 24, 2013 I was told its a grop of local volunteers but no one has heard of it ever before and it is certainly not manned Quote
kevrail Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Im not so sure Blaine! No one seems to be able to join and take part as there are no events, I believe it has been done for business reasons only and not for the pure interest in model railways I know a few years back there was a railway exhibition in Killarney beside the new Tourist Office, but it has been closed for a few years. There was an admission charge but I have to say it was worth it. Not sure is this shines any light on the matter! Quote
John-r Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Hi guys, don't know much about this myself an I live in Tralee I think 2local business men are involved as been said already trying to buy Quote
irishrail201 Posted May 24, 2013 Author Posted May 24, 2013 It closed because of lack of interest I believe? I now know its a group of business people not model railway people Quote
John-r Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Hi guys, don't know much about this myself an I live in Tralee I think 2local business men are involved as been said already trying to buy layout from Chester mrc, hoping for permanent display in Tralee ,I will try an dig up more info on this lookup radio kerry & the kerryman papers website, but give me a bit of time ? Computer an me not on friendly terms. Quote
irishrail201 Posted May 24, 2013 Author Posted May 24, 2013 The above is correct, I am supposedly trying to help them reopen the railway yet, not invited or even told about it! Quote
John-r Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Hi irishrail201, that's what usually happens! Didn't realise any member was close buy , Quote
irishrail201 Posted May 24, 2013 Author Posted May 24, 2013 that's what usually happens, Even though Im supposed to be working with them??? Not even a mention to me. I hope it [chester mrc layout] doesn't end up like the actual railway i.e ruined, because if we remember that was run by business people "into the ground" as one lecturer once said. Quote
Mayner Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 (edited) http://chestermodelrailwayclub.com/dingle.htm Should be worth visiting Blennerville between 30May & 1 June the last run with the original stock and John Campbells & Neil Ramseys live steam live steam models on display. Edited May 24, 2013 by Mayner Quote
irishrail201 Posted May 24, 2013 Author Posted May 24, 2013 the above will be correct as it will probably be the LAST time it will be running as the so called Kerry model railway society is fiction and not peopleon the ground like in chester. Quote
ballyheigue Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Saw it on TG4 last week,so I brought the kids to see it and it looks pretty good. The staff were really nice and gave the kids the history of the railway. The kids were delighted when they were able to operate a hornby layout. Quote
Broithe Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 A bit on this edition of Nationwide - http://www.rte.ie/player/gb/show/10169721/ - starts at 08:30.... Quote

Glenderg Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Saaw this a few weeks ago. The sound editing and overuse of stock sounds of mainline steam locos superimposed on black and white shots of wobbly little locos will make garfield ill. unlike rte's editing dept. you certainly cant knock the enthusiasm of the locals though, and they've done a crackin job. plenty more railway generations to come.
