To answer that question, @murphaph kindly informed me that the DC Hunslets have what I think he called a “whopper” of a speaker, so it’s not like the DC Class 60:

OR is it this.

For the first time in an Accurascale or IRM locomotive, the Hunslet makes use of an ESU-designed speaker. We've used this speaker due to space restrictions and this twin speaker is included in all DC/DCC ready locomotives, as well as DCC sound fitted variants. So, if you want to upgrade to sound later, you just pop the roof off, plug in your sound decoder and off you go

I'm looking to upgrade to sound as well, maybe someone can clarify what is needed. Sorry for the state of this reply , don't know how to turn bold writing off,  this is what your dealing with lads,

As per your quote all the hunslets have a speaker set up built in. Just add a sound decoder for the sound experience.

Thanks Stephen for the clarification,  panic set in when I took the roof of my sound version and it looked the same as my non sound version and I thought were am I going to fit another speaker in there . The sound is imo the best yet as well as the loco. Now to get ordering a sound chip.
