Garfield Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Looks interesting alright. Anyone out there have any experience with it? Quote
Mayner Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 I used Loco-Buffer http://www.dccsupplies.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=24_231&products_id=884 as a USB interface with JMRI open source software at one stage to set up route setting on an N gauge layout. The main benefit of computer control was that it didn't take long to get the system up and running and easier to let go of with only a virtual panel to scrap when I had to dismantle the layout. The main draw back of computer control or any form of automation is that when you add signalling and detection you will end up with nearly as much wiring and hardware as Connolly CTC. Quote
BosKonay Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 (edited) I've heard good things about Sprog with jmri too http://www.sprog-dcc.co.uk/ Edited July 10, 2013 by BosKonay Quote
Dave Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 I've heard good things about Sprog with jmri too http://www.sprog-dcc.co.uk/ Sprog is a great system, the new one is rated to 3.5 amps. Very good value too. Coupled with JMRI its a very inexpensive DCC system that rivals some top end DCC systems. Control via PC, tablet or smart phone. Also great for controlling points and signals. BosKonay Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 I'm hoping to get one to use for point and signal control. Can be coupled with a raspberry pi to remove the need for a PC too. Makes for very inexpensive computer controlled dcc Quote
heirflick Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 lads, can a lenz system be hooked up for computer control? Quote
Warbonnet Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 lads, can a lenz system be hooked up for computer control? Sure can. Might want to talk to Brendan about that... Quote
BosKonay Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Yep. Grab the lenz USB module. It works with pretty much all the software options too. Quote
