Well, Sulzer, I'm sure I don't have to tell you what you've got there? Most of it looks only fit for the bin, but the locos will be of interest, if only to guys using the Hornby motors in clockwork locos - as the late Drew Donladson did in those amazing models of his. Have a look at eBay, where there's a lot of wrecks on sale and fetching tens of pounds. Good luck - interesting find. Leslie Quote
heirflick Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 great find - a case for the antiques roadshow perhaps? Quote
WRENNEIRE Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 What day is bin day in your parish, Sulzer? Quote
DiveController Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 Well, I have no idea what it's worth, now or if restored……….. but I wouldn't trash it if you seen Wrenneire hanging around on a corner near you! :-) Quote
DiveController Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 Quick search before you get swindled on here http://www.vintagehornby.net/pics/lo1102.jpg This is probably what you have. It worth a few hundred pounds STG if Near mint. Yours probably doesn't qualify for that category (sorry!). Probably worth checking what else is in that lot in case there's a rare carriage or something but probably not worth much based on condition PS I have NOOOOO expertise in this area and someone else's opinion on here is probably better Quote
minister_for_hardship Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 One of the coaches looks to be in middling condition, pity the damp got at the rest. I'd say most of it would be of use to guys looking for spares, or to repaint, but repainted stuff doesn't have anywhere near the value of an untouched example. Quote
Sulzer201 Posted August 22, 2014 Author Posted August 22, 2014 I was only giving a hand clearing the shed the owner would definitely not part with this 'junk' as it is of a strong sentimental value to her, her late husband was an avid railway enthusiast, he travelled widely across Ireland and Britain to photograph 'steam' and he must have collected a few model railway items over his lifetime. Unfortunately in this case, the items have been left neglected in the corner of a leaking shed Quote
WRENNEIRE Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 (edited) Would need to be in at least this condition before it would be much use to anyone, methinks? Edited August 22, 2014 by WRENNEIRE Quote
heirflick Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 Jasus Dave - is there anything thats railway related that you DONT have? Quote
WRENNEIRE Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Now that you mantion it Seamus..... Box for Hornby CIE Mk 2 Brake end, R721 And a Lima Sealink box 305317 Mk 1 SK Found that the one in the collection was a bit iffy Some other bits and bobs that I will bring to your attention in further posts on the Pictures of Models forum!! DiveController Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 I think it would be of most value to someone who wished to restore it for its own sake Quote
Warbonnet Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Who ran this Sealink coach? BR in the 1980s. NIR had a 70 class railcar decked out in similar livery. Quote
