thewanderer Posted September 11, 2015 Author Posted September 11, 2015 A small update to earlier. 22001 returns to service earlier tonight working the 1935 Heuston - Galway after 7 months as a testbed for the new CAWS/ATP Hybrid signalling system. To avoid the set being stored for the next 18 months it has been decided to make up a hybrid set. This involved reconfiguring set 22001 and 22002 to place the two modified cabs of 22001 on different units. The two modified cabs are coupled together (in the middle) and marked as "not end of train"cabs. This means sets 22001 + 22002 will operate in service as a fixed formation 6 car train formed as 22302 + 22402 + 22201 + 22301 + 22401 + 22202. The work to reform the sets took place on Wednesday 27th August. Click http://smu.gs/1XUgh7J to view. Quote

jhb171achill Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Is there a single solitary thing, in all of the Great Lord's Creation, worse than a "train" in "advertising livery"! We get enough of entire rain forests turned into irrelevant, invasive advertising rubbish stuffed into our letterboxes and computers daily. Actually, yes - people referring to the place where you board a train as a "train station"..... or IE calling passengers "customers". It's all part of the grand plan of inane globalisation. Having successfully killed off goods trains since Todd Andrews' time, now we've given up "passenger trains" too. Instead, have we a new phenomenon, "customer trains"? Don't start me on "happy holidays"..... Rant over. For the moment. Quote
thewanderer Posted October 9, 2015 Author Posted October 9, 2015 Imagine the horror back in 1985 when the first advertising train appeared. http://www.cornwallrailwaysociety.org.uk/uploads/7/6/8/3/7683812/_2099346_orig.jpg As for customers, I can live with that. Aer Lingus have started calling their passengers "Guests". Truly awful. Is there a single solitary thing, in all of the Great Lord's Creation, worse than a "train" in "advertising livery"! Broithe Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 As for customers, I can live with that. Aer Lingus have started calling their passengers "Guests". Truly awful. Over here, although they may not be doing it any more, the Asda supermarket chain used to have "greeters" as you arrived through the door - if I wanted people to be paid to pretend to be happy to see me then I could just go down the pub....
