It is great to report that the limited edition models of B134 produced for the RPSI by Murphy Models are down to the final few. The response to these models has been amazing and has provided a vital income stream for the society. It is now over a year since we last operated a train but bills like insurance still need to be paid. Thanks to all those who have supported this project and to those who would like to support us, please use the links and secure one of the last remaining models. Once they are gone thats it there will be no more!

There are two pages to make it easier to purchase. One page for those inside the EU and one for those within the UK.

EU link https://irishrailwaymodels.com/products/b134-class-121-locomotive-rpsi-grey-yellow

UK link https://irishrailwaymodels.co.uk/collections/locomotives/products/b134-class-121-locomotive-rpsi-grey-yellow

We have had a number of requests regarding suitable rolling stock from people who have purchased B134. A number of options are currently getting looked at to generate funds.

Huge thanks are due to the team at IRM for facilitating the ordering and dispatch of these models at zero cost to the RPSI.

Good to hear, but As K801 has already mentioned the promised 3 remaining RPSI blue and cream craven coaches to go with the original 3 can run behind B134 and existing MM 071s seems the obvious choice as no tooling needed unless a proper bar coach is included. Any fix available for the wobbling originals (Eg bogie shim springs as demonstrated by Paddy Murphy at the SDMRC show a few years ago)? RPSI B134 could also haul existing Bachmann RPSI green mk2a coaches.

It would probably be more financially viable to piggyback off another production run.

Existing tooling or not, running a few hundred of each of three coaches would probably mean the set would retail at about €400!

I'm sure the RPSI are considering all options, and if we're lucky enough to get some IR livery Mk2D's, maybe piggybacking off that for a run of 303 and 304 would make more sense.

Time will tell, I'm sure!

There were a good many ex BR mk2 coaches in their various guises that ran in the two railway systems in Ireland, not just the mk2 TSO’s that were available from Murphy Models. Producing some of them in both IR/IE and RPSI liveries would make for greater variety and accuracy.

The obvious thing for original-state grey 121s is of course green laminates and Park Royals, and tin vans....

Loved seeing the original grey 121s hauling black and tan coaches with a grotty silver tin van for heating and the odd green flying snail coach in the formation.

€150 for a new 3-pk of Cravens i'd say

No promises have been made in relation to the production of more cravens. However, the idea of producing a second set is certainly one thing that is in the mix. There are also a number of other options that are currently getting looked at. The response to the RPSI cravens and B134 models certainly gives good reason to explore further production runs of our stock. It must be remembered that the RPSI has able to produce these models only with the huge assistance of Paddy Murphy when production of similar models is underway.

Clearing the last few of the B134 models is another important step to keep some income coming in when everything in terms of operations has stopped. If you are thinking of purchasing one of these models please do so now because once these are gone that's it- no more.. https://irishrailwaymodels.com/products/b134-class-121-locomotive-rpsi-grey-yellow

There will be some good news to report in the coming days so watch this space...

In terms of carriages, ANYTHING green and anything pre-Craven types, and the “tin vans” are a must for all early diesels. With no steam heating, a diesel-hauled 1955 - 69 passenger train needs one (or more) as much as it does a loco!

Any excuse for a Tin Van!

I'm laughing so hard that my throat is sore.

🤣

She's a 2021 loco now, JHB!

Sense of deja vu here.

🤣

Maybe, Gerry - but they ARE needed!

Silverfox, of course, do green laminates. I am sure their "tin vans" can be done in green or silver too.
