GNRi1959 Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 I was thinking about starting a Facebook group to post some pictures of Omagh, hoping to draw on locals who like that sort of thing. I know nothing about Facebook, so do I need to open an account before I start the group ? Quote
BosKonay Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 Facebook is hard to manage and not at all searchable. Something like a forum is more permanent Quote
Irishswissernie Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 Found this on Facebook Tony. https://www.facebook.com/RailOmagh This has a lot of Archive images on it. You can post your photos (where you have copyright or the copyright holders permission) etc on there if you join Facebook yourself (I think) Ernie 1 Quote

Mike 84C Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 The hard to manage and unable to find stuff again is why I am not on facebook. One of us in our house constantly trawling through the pages looking for something they found is quite enough. The device may land on the front lawn if that were me! Quote
Irishswissernie Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 (edited) I am not a fan of Faecesbook either. I mainly use it to chat to the offspring as my cheapo Tesco Pay as you Go mobile doesn't support WhatsUp and I am only a member of various Groups to keep an eye on what photos they have nicked off my flickr and doctored to get rid of the copyright overlays. There are just too many Groups basically churning out the same stuff or in some cases perpetuating false or flawed information. Now does anyone remember a Group I had years ago when, I think it was Microsoft, had some site (MY Daughter says it was MSN Groups!) where you could form a Group. Mine was Irish Railway something - I can't even remember what its Title was . Any way Microsoft or whatever decided to pull the plug on MSN and I closed it down. Shortly after IRM started up and I joined here instead. Some of the lads on here were members, H Gricer was one. My memory is definitely getting worse! Edited March 23, 2021 by Irishswissernie MSN Groups was the name 3 Quote

Our late Border collie Chumbawallah Pondicherry still has a facebook account created by my daughters . One of their facebook friends regularly corresponded with him for 6 months before she realised he was a dog! 4 Quote

Haven't seen dogs, just loads of Thai girls who got interested in railways all of a sudden. 1 2 Quote
Irishswissernie Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 I have 1400 followers on Flickr ERNIE's Railway Archive. A fair number of these seem to be Eastern European or Asian young maidens! 1 1 Quote

GNRi1959 Posted March 23, 2021 Author Posted March 23, 2021 In that case, I'll stay away from Facebook. My wife ignores me all the time, she is so busy nattering with her friends. Quote
