OBB HOe layout "Connafeld"

Hi Tony, I have gone through various DCC controllers, Hornby select years ago for starts, Then Bachmann Dynamis which I really liked but did not have the amount of functions needed for modern decoders, Then an NCE powercab which I sold off pretty quickly and finally settled and very happy with the Z21 (white). Pretty easy to use. Have a hand set but mostly use the phone / Tablet and dead easy to program really -

Delivery today from Germany with some bits and bobs. Finally completed the platform lights so nicely balanced. Also set up a simple consist with the two Eloks using the close coupling bar. Looks great. Slight mismatch in speed a one is sound and the delay leaving off the brake causing the delay. Up to speed tis fine. Another DCC Dilemma......
Georgeconna replied to Patrick Davey's question in DCC, Electrics and Electronics
its a pretty basic system really, 20 years old. Switched to a Z21, option to use handset and tablet. will never change. So simple a 10 year old kid can use it. -

Back from the show, lovely reception from the public. Lots of questions asked, some kids got to have a drive as well. Made their day. No major bugs, just one cobalt issue where the fulcrum point moved downwards causing the blades not to move hard to decipher due to the ambient noise. Last train tonight and fingers crossed Wexford will be the next outing. See you then.- 149 replies

IRM Latest! Hear the Hunslet Growl: NIR 101 Exclusive Sound Preview!
Georgeconna replied to Warbonnet's topic in News
excellent demo. never seen one live so no idea what these sound like but certainly the presentation captures the essence of what if shoud be. Love the fan, gonna enjoy that. The lighting affects are lovely especially the dimming when switching ends. The oomph of the diesel is quite nice too, braking is a tad on the weak side? The track gap in that film though! I suspect it flipped off it they were well misaligned! -
do make sure to introduce yourself Bob

had two chips, one in a HST 125 and the other in a LNER D49. Used to swap them out then to other locos when I fancied something different! Still have the two locos and they still run.

Got a call about some weathering and DCC installation from a gent earlier today. Asked him his location and he was literally 100 metres from my house. Said call over and he brought these beauty's along, Rhodesian Railways Locos. Turns out has an African Layout complete with mud huts etc. Lived here for years too. Anyway gonna help him out and stick a headlight and try to fry some suitable sound decoders for them Conna is becoming a hot bed for continental modelling it seems!

Fitted in the motor, just need to loose about 6 inches of girth as the seat is pushed up to the max. Reassembled it and 2 lights not working as the wires came away now sorted. Here it is now in expo mode

Cheers, it actually white but I should have done it like the loco livery. Can always re do it. I am not in the City but out near Fermoy so if you are passing more than welcome for a cuppa.
