  1. Fabulous. Used to pass this almost weekly! Some great ‘cab ride’ videos out there - it’s an amazing railway system.
  2. I’m just trying to work out where the flowers fit in. Given your predilection for precise use of language, I know it can’t be a typo
  3. never mind that ! The best timings of all were an S class with wooden stock. Maybe what’s what’s required
  4. Fabulous. And of course we all know which magnificent 7 you are really referring to….Sir Henry, Enniskillen, Lough Gill, Lurganboy, Lissadell, Fermanagh, Hazelwood
  5. Latest I heard is retrieval to Dublin by diesel. Shame - 131 is a cracking performer as that great video shows. Not the engine’s fault today apparently
  6. Sadly I understand due to fires in a few places she is stopped somewhere …..
  7. Wonderful Ernie - have a great trip! As you say, JGD took several images at Manorhamilton in quick succession - there’s another similar one showing the driver oiling round. There’s a good head of steam for the climb to Glenfarne!
  8. Great work. Ready to haul the Sligo Mail!
  9. Vintage Carriages Trust entry on the Clifden coach; http://www.cs.rhrp.org.uk/se/CarriageInfo.asp?Ref=3897
  10. MGWR took on builders no 3975 and 3974. Locos were named ‘Limerick’ and ‘Athenry’. Classed as 234 (J17) by GSR.
  11. Is this ‘’Goliath” and closely related to ‘Shannon’ as built by Richard Chown and now owned by @David Holman?
  12. Amazing how much GN atmosphere it retained at the first closure. This is the last steam train to depart GVS in 1975 https://www.geograph.ie/photo/3393960
  13. Well done Alan. Must say I hate the whole wheels on/wheels off process associated with loco building! And as for pickups - I can see why clockwork has its advocates …..
  14. It’s delightful I agree. But did nothing to make such lines viable given the traffic density. I remember reading a quote in a book about Col Stephens and his railways, describing how horrified he would be about such high standards on a tertiary route! One of the reasons the SLNC limped on as long as it did is that its PW was just good enough to work. That said, I do recall with nostalgia the GN main up to the 80s when the mileposts between Dundalk and Drogheda had manicured grass surrounds…
  15. Looks good. Know what you mean. I’d be terrified about weathering really nice models like that. At least with when it comes to my own scratchbuilds and weathering I know what faults need concealed!
  16. Most enjoyable trip to see Bruckless today - bumped into @leslie10646which is always a bonus! Great to meet @Andy Cundick and get a guided tour of Donegal stock over the decades! Thanks for all your patient explanations to my questions Andy! Not to mention the impromptu railcar parade Exquisite stock and a lovely background against which to view it all. See it if you can !
  17. That’s incredible. One of the most difficult Irish locos to model given the paucity of footplate.
  18. The tram crossing the Bridge looks like a Chamberlain car, delivered c1928-30. So possibly early 30s. Definitely pre-war.
  19. That’s reassuring. Roger Crombleholme, who bought a standard gauge loco for preservation in 1965, is also still actively designing Irish kits
  20. That’s the model of King George V you’re about to build….
  21. Fabulous work. And if the chassis runs as well as that - everything else is just window dressing!
  22. And don’t forget the curator of Lisburn Museum’s folk artefacts - Herr Loom.
