  1. Thanks Ernie. Hope all goes well. Excellent close up of flat bottom track too.
  2. In 4mm scale you can also get off with using an old style GWR crest, which should be easily found from various transfer suppliers
  3. The last of them ended up in Suffolk, in the hands of a one-off character called Peter Hunt, former proprietor of an infamous model shop - Chuffs, later reincarnated as Perfect Miniatures. His adverts in the gauge O Guild were absolute classics of British humour. A sample is below. I bought some books and card kits when he closed up, but up until a few years ago he was still offering Bats - this ad is from 2018. Long gone now - I’d have bought them if I’d had more sense. He actually came to my house with the stuff and was a most entertaining chap. As Mr H says, an ideal model both as it stood and as a vehicle for detailing. Thankfully Roger Crombleholme still offers a reasonably priced version of the E/J26.
  4. Looks like a Leinster E class. Nice red livery too. Is that a Biblical name ? Exodus 15:27 springs to mind…
  5. Very nice - although there’s a fair GSWR resemblance going on here too!
  6. If you have large quantities of serviceable 100 in stock and want to use it in off-scene fiddle yards etc….
  7. Tell him/her you are studying probability - the likelihood of an RTR CBSC 6w coach is…….
  8. They are not cheap but many UK modellers say they are the best. The detail is very good.
  9. Excellent. You are making stuff and having fun. That’s what it’s all about. Keep the updates coming!
  10. Try here for a huge range https://www.modelu3d.co.uk/
  11. They are. The website is undergoing a rebuild. @leslie10646will doubtless know more !
  12. It’s a quick fix for small scale modelling but unpicking your work if unhappy with it may be problematic. Using solder allows for ‘tacking’ pieces in place with small solder joints to check the fit before soldering solid. The chassis is not something to be scared of. Get one of these and it will keep you square: http://www.poppyswoodtech.co.uk/tools.html
  13. Looks really good. Very neat soldering - can’t see any stray solder! Or have you gone down the superglue route?
  14. Excellent. Take it slowly, clean the joint areas well, use lots of flux and a hot iron, and you’ll be fine - and show us what you are up to!!
  15. Brass (or nickel silver ) is also much more tolerant of reworking and general fettling. Don’t ask me how I know!
  16. And obviously fans of the best CIE livery ever
  17. Here, I’d say….https://foxfieldrailway.co.uk/knotty-heritage-train-days/
  18. Might be worth checking the back to back as a first step. Gold standard fix is some kind of flexi chassis as identified above, but flangeless wheels are an easy fix. 6 w coaches can be curious beasts and and require a bit of fettling to get round the track…
  19. Knew this reminded me of something. It’s very like a Lambton Tank - also produced by Kitson- albeit with a much better cab.
  20. Looks like an ex-DSE one. Can’t imagine where that came from
  21. The Pullmans had standard Pullman design bogies, apparently constructed by the LMS , who presumably had more experience than most UK concerns in building 5’3” bogie stock…..
