  1. Thanks gents! Had a great day and herself got me a nice SD40 as a gift! She's a keeper!
  2. Marks and the model shop in portlaoise. Check out the shop section of this page for more info!
  3. Have one myself. Break the bank Baseboard Dave, they're well worth it!
  4. Happy Christmas one and all! Hope you all have a good one!
  5. Absolutely stunning Sean! Thanks for sharing!
  6. I have to factor in personal capabilities. Worth pondering nonetheless!
  7. I was thinking DJH to be honest!
  8. If I had the cash I would've bought that princess kit, to put by till the skills were good enough to build it. The hornby equivalent is rotten. Late BR in heavily weathered condition. Some of the kit/scratch built ones from the likes of Michael Edge on RMWeb are stunners. Will the brassmasters offering of the coronation cater for the Ivatt variant? The force is strong with that one.
  9. Aye, but their miles per casualty is quite high though, might spit oil but they don't fail. It's like over here; the dirtiest ones were the most reliable.
  10. I don't think the shareholders in the UK freight companies care much about the drivers who operate their trains and their complaints. At the end of the day they're very reliable and get the job done, unlike the British products of similar vintage. Their biggest black mark would be fuel efficiency of course, hence the small renaissance of the 60s. The mechanicals will keep going, parts support is always going to be first class and the bodywork will always be cheap to mend when it comes to corrosion. Once fuel stays on the cheap side they'll be favoured for a good while yet I reckon.
  11. Playing the victim now? I think you can see from the amount of adverse reactions you posts have generated along with PMs we mods have received that you have insulted a great deal of members on here, personalised or not.
  12. . As a club member I find this insulting personally. We don't 'fob' anyone off.
  13. Everyone is allowed an opinion, but do not insult everyone or indeed anyone while you make it. There's no need to play dumb about it. I know you're not stupid despite your appalling spelling and grammar. You know exactly what you did and it's plain to see in your previous posts. All you've served to do is take a good topic started by David and fill it with bile and arrogance.
  14. It's amazing how you go for sweeping general statement to 'my personal opinion' in the space of two sentences. You've slagged off a huge amount of modellers on this forum with your previous post for a start, with you superiority complex regarding signalling. Not to mention the model railway clubs who work hard to put on shows and build exhibits every year to appeal to both us enthusiasts and the general public alike. Do the general public get the horn over semaphore signalling and prototype paths? Not a hope. I reckon you could count on Bart Simpsons right hand how many people do on this forum and at our local shows. If it flicks your switch then run with it. Fair play to you. But do not come on here and insult those who are not interested in it. This is not an arena that will tolerate that. Maybe bring up your sickening arrogance at the next show you attend and see how you get on instead of hiding behind your keyboard and being too afraid of telling people who you are behind the online persona.
  15. Gents, I understand the questions you are all asking. It's unfair for me to go into too much detail while BTB is on his week long cooling off period as he has no right of reply. However, I will say that his behaviour and combative style of posting has aggravated several posters, some of which were established and distanced themselves from the site since. We've let him away with plenty, asked him to change his style previously and he has continued to be sarcastic and combative. People feel Blaine has done the same so we have to treat everyone equally. He'll be allowed to post again within 7 days and we hope it will be in a more friendly manner when he does. He didn't get this yellow card for just the latest foul, but it's a culmination for several previous fouls. If anyone wants to discuss further they can contact the mod team via PM or discuss via email etc. We would ask you to allow this topic to remain on course and not become another battleground as we'll just lock it if it does. Thanks.
  16. Christ. I can't believe anyone would be that pig ignorant or as stupid as you're displaying. All I can decide is that you're trolling. Week in the cooler for you. Enjoy.
  17. I wasn't born until the 80s and I was in it. Have the Hornby duchess to prove it and know a former employee of Leinster models. Let's hope you don't take being corrected too badly this time
  18. He was offering his opinion too. What's with the overreaction? Legalities indeed. Going on like that wont do much to your blood pressure.
  19. and a nice kitbuilt loco to pull them I expect, much like the golden age stuff. Cheaper RTR steam locos wont have the pulling power for kit built coaches I'd imagine.
  20. How much we talking Ivan?
  21. And rare. Fancy losing about a grand by torching those boxes??
