Got a quick look at the Sandite Unit at York Road yesterday. It actually looks quite well in yellow in the flesh. I quite like it! Anyone going to model it?
You could buy spares from a Hornby 50 and transplant them into the Lima 50 underframe (including bogie spares) if you want a central can set up. This might prove a useful guide (okay it's a 31, but the concept would be the same. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/19369-brush-type-2-re-birth-judgement-day/
Alternatively the units we discussed recently would work in a Lima 50. What's gone wrong with it? Is it the motor itself? Did you clean the wheels and pick-ups? Are the gears damaged? Loose wires/connection?

Not just me, the three complaints the mod team received about your use of excessive capital letters. Let's not play silly beggars. We're all adults at the end of the day
It really benefits locos that have a real base rumble in real life. For instance, I've heard a Deltic and a Class 56 with bass reflex and it puts them on a whole other level. I think the one loco here that would really benefit from them would be the 071s. The 201s are much quieter and the big silencer seems to take the bass out of the sound.
Believe it or not dummies cost nearly the same to make as powered units. British manufacturers looked at it before and felt there was no economic case.
I know I would personally want all locos powered for extra pulling power.
Great video. NBLs diesel output interests me more than the steam angle but it's great to see such a large operation in action! A similar one of Inchicore in its prime would be fantastic. Thanks for sharing!
Non members can drop into the Dublin set up from time to time, might be the same for London? I'm sure they'd have plenty of drawings etc you'd be interested in
'And henceforth the Irish Railway Modeller community began their lobbying of IE to engage in a heritage repaint programme of their otherwise dull trains into interesting paint schemes of the past similar to Norfolk Southern...'
Or something.
they tend to grow back?
I dont see the problem with having both, the defenders as a 'last resort' as going by the number of damaged roof domes to be seen on the Dublin Bus fleet the tree choppers can't always keep up .
