  1. No, but they're decent runners usually. Lovely paint job, enjoy the chrimbo present Seamus!
  2. ....they made air travel affordable and put some fiscal sense into air fares. I know everybody is down on them but for that point alone we should be eternally grateful.
  3. I'll stick some up when I get home
  4. Mine arrived this morning... Must say the etches and castings look very nice and I really like the extensive instructions which will be of great guidance to kit building newbies such as myself. Congrats on the venture John, a quality product!
  5. Sure it's a stones throw from Texas.
  6. Better pics here https://www.facebook.com/pages/Railnuts/192967507490617?id=192967507490617&sk=photos_stream
  7. No idea, other than the slightly altered logo and sweeping lines the livery is basically the same. She's a handsome brute, I did say to myself that these were too modern for my era (draw the line once DB Red appeared) but I'll probably cave in and get one, provided Dapol don't make a balls of it!

I would usually be of the same opinion but the post I quoted wasn't uttered by your usual forum spoofer. Jury still out for me mind you.
  10. I know someone in the Midlands who would've added at least 5 more levels....

  12. Buy two Brendans, get one half price?
  13. Now that's some awesome photography! I think she still has to be lined, can't wait to see her on the rails in 2014.
  14. MTH do a nice model of the triplex. I guess it comes down to what you mean by most powerful? High horsepower, tractive effort? The Allegheny chucked out 7,500hp at 40mph, so probably the highest most usable power. The boilers were good for 8,000. No modern diesel gets near that. A bit more info http://www.steamlocomotive.com/allegheny/ Either way, monsters, the lot of them! I can't wait till the Big Boy gets out on the mainline again.
  15. Nope, the Allegheny was. The Big Boy was bigger and faster mind you. The Allegheny was built for heavy coal slogging up the mountains. The Big Boys were built for fast freight. No weakling themselves mind you but the higher speed meant less tractive effort.
  16. The ALLEGHENY was the most powerful of them all. I have one of those Rivarossi models and they're absolutely stunning. The Genesis Challenger and Big Boys are too. I wished I owned the Big Boy in this pic, but I am lucky enough that I own the big UP power either side of it. All have sound
  17. Welcome to the darkside my man!
  18. These do Hornby group spares George, including Rivarossi. Might be worth a punt http://www.hornbyspares.com/rivarossi-ho-spares-by-product-c-59.html
  19. Rails are selling these for £100 today for one day only if you're feeling flush. Great saving https://railsofsheffield.com/prodigy-express-package-dcc01-JJJA18232.aspx
  20. Can't remember the last time trains were featured so anything is a positive of exposing the wee ones to the hobby.
  21. How many TPOs where there? Would they have run with the SSM Bredin mail van?
  22. Hope you get a straight A, top of the class! Best of luck with it!
  23. Indeed, a savage job. Great guide for material and inspiration.
  24. I'm not 100% on the answers to your queries but there are a series of reviews on YouTube which may help? http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=hornby+elink&sm=1
