  1. Cheers Dave. Never been to Giggleswick myself it has to be said.
  2. You've been warned about caps lock before. Type in lower case and only use caps where appropriate please Mr. Roche.
  3. Who commissioned those sets Dave? Were they pre Murphy?
  4. Believe it or not dummies cost nearly the same to make as powered units. British manufacturers looked at it before and felt there was no economic case. I know I would personally want all locos powered for extra pulling power.
  5. Great video. NBLs diesel output interests me more than the steam angle but it's great to see such a large operation in action! A similar one of Inchicore in its prime would be fantastic. Thanks for sharing!
  6. Are you sure they're not being caused by trees? Either way the defenders will help limit damage going forward.
  7. Non members can drop into the Dublin set up from time to time, might be the same for London? I'm sure they'd have plenty of drawings etc you'd be interested in
  8. 'And henceforth the Irish Railway Modeller community began their lobbying of IE to engage in a heritage repaint programme of their otherwise dull trains into interesting paint schemes of the past similar to Norfolk Southern...' Or something.
  9. they tend to grow back? I dont see the problem with having both, the defenders as a 'last resort' as going by the number of damaged roof domes to be seen on the Dublin Bus fleet the tree choppers can't always keep up .
  10. Have a look at a 201 and 071, they aint evenly spaced either!
  11. Correct, more Dublin Buses could do with them. I see the newest deckers are getting branch defenders. About time.
  12. Top work Kieran, some fantastic skills put into that parcel van and some learned along the way I bet!
  13. Nice. I'm still unsure if I like the Enviro 400s or not. They're not bad but I do prefer the Wright option
  14. I believe that a Hollywood Foundry chassis was an option for these. Expensive mind.
  15. I am member of a couple of Facebook groups and to be honest they're not for me. Just don't like the format and they tend to be closed which excludes people (here you can read all the info and not have to register if you so wish) but each to their own.
  16. Interesting, thanks for the update. By the sound of the Rail Express snippet it looked like Heuston would be the new RPSI base in the Dublin area. Be interesting to see how it pans out.
  17. Present company excepted I think you'll find!
  18. Interesting that they used Virgin Trains as an example of comfortable railcar use. I've been on Voyagers and they're they worst mode of transport I've ever been on, and I've travelled on stuff with wooden benches for seats. The push pulls are not air con stock. I reckon if a real will and finance was there they'd be saved. There doesn't seem to be much of the latter though.
  19. If you had a blue box Alco PA I would've logged onto Paypal again. Mind you that is for a separate future project...
  20. While I wouldnt be the 201s biggest fan they sound better than the nondescript railcars we have and that will ultimately replace loco hauled passenger trains!
  21. Superb, have fond memories of C/Road ADs. VA next?
  22. I have a Lima 201 in stock and have been thinking of a few ways of remotoring and detailing. Will add it to a workbench thread when I (hopefully) get around to it later this year.
  23. They'd be a nice starting point for an open access freight operator to come in and use mind you. Wouldn't be surprised if they were turned into razor blades before that opportunity arose though.
  24. Once the mark 3s finished there was no more work for them so they were just switched off. Most of them (if not all) were still operational.
