  1. I have the 29k drawings that were part of an IRRS journal from 2003 if they are any use. I'm sure others would have them too.
  2. Sure it's the lowest top speed rated intercity train in Ireland. Makes up for it in comfort I suppose.
  3. Aer Lingus getting rid of the blue band was a big change to me. It was a small change but made a big difference overall imo.
  4. Badly needed too. Very hard to do any rail fanning or 071 bashing after dark with UICs. Trying to get the number of a slate '71 at Eastwall junction the other night, couldn't tell if it was 071,077 or 088 in the dark. 088 can be easy to tell sometimes as they fecked up the spacing between the 8s leaving a gap.
  5. Far better logo than the Irish flag double arrow they went with for everything else. It looks OK in black on the DARTs and white on 071s but awful in green white and orange on the ICRs, DMUs and 215. I reckon this logo was more NIR inspired than IE and if so it really shows.
  6. As far as I know the cab end UIC no.s are optional but UIC requirements state that the full 12 digit number has to be printed at least once on each side. Not like the slate 071s that look like rolling Enigma machines.
  7. I've never seen a 201 coupled to Enterprise stock at the no.1 end ever. Even when a set gets turned the odd time the 201 stays with that set until it's turned right way round again. In the days of HEP the no.2 end cab was very noisy so that's why IE turned all the pushpull 201s from around 1997 onwards. Some ended up the wrong way from time to time at Heuston but they always made sure they were the right way round before going Connolly side of the network for Enterprise duties.
  8. Just noticed the yellow face is well off centre on both ends. Look at the marker light clusters on both sides at each end. There is less yellow on the drivers side LEDs both ends.
  9. Just a tad yeah=)) it's like looking at a different loco from the other end. The no2 end is painted to match the rolling stock. 8209 is the same with the black band only around the no 2 cab. I find the red stripe very late in dropping down, I think it should be level before the cab door, same with the purple. It's going to be a very hard livery to re spray.
  10. Just looking at the current state of 206 before it went in and the dirt on 207 and 233. The washer is not good enough. The Enterprise 201s are generally the scruffiest 201s but I reckon that is from years of extra fumes from being on HEP for 18 hours a day before the EGV became standard.
  11. Well 8209 seems to be holding up ok for the past few months but in saying that it's not as active as normal and held as standby in Connolly the past few weeks. The silver is starting to get a brown hue in places.
  12. Wow, that look amazing. I think Paddy Murphy was on to something with the small number font on the last 201s:rolleyes: Odd that 8209 has the large offset number like 8208 has/had on the last livery yet 206 has the UIC style head number. Also I see long lost 087 peaking out behind 206.
  13. I take it the work on 216 is conformation that it is going to be one of the Belmond locos or only one?
  14. Great work, looks like you got the yellow panel on 111 spot on as it is slightly smaller than the one on 112. The Revell 52 is the perfect shade alright, you can't tell where it was painted over. The FSBO really looks the part behind 111.
  15. At least now he's dropped the €28 postage to Ireland that was on it last week when I posted it. Just needs to drop another €200 to shift it. The body of the Lima's is not bad though. The orange to yellow colour mix is better than the MM ones and much more accurate imo.
  16. Just happens, there is a good bit of it within the MM range and Lima to Murphy. MM078 and MM7078. 078 was painted in slate grey when the model came out but it was not released to traffic at the time until some months after the model came out. MM8208 (2008 Enterprise livery) MM208 in NIR blue, Lima 208 NIR blue. MM230 in Enterprise and Lima 230 in Enterprise and IE orange.
  17. Great news. Can't wait to see 206 finished. It was in most need of a repaint after 209. Alot of the Enterprise 201s seem to be suffering from rust problems around the roof area of the no.2 cab end. 207 and 227 are fairly bad I think. I find it a bit odd that only 208 got the last livery and IE held off on it's 201s. 208 was painted in 2008 so it got around 6 years out of it which isn't too bad I think. I think NIR left 209 out as it had no working HEP gear and the EGVs were not a sure think at the time. Hence 209 spending most of it's time on Mk4 runs.
  18. Yep, old news if you don't route around the site. It's been up on other rail chat forums I visit since last November too.
  19. Only last week I saw a very good slide on ebay featuring 084 hauling a Mk3 set out of Heuston. 084 was still in GM livery and you could see the contrast against the then new ST livery on the Mk3 EGV. 084 must have been one of the last to get ST livery. It was the last loco in service with the IE livery and all.
  20. IE used orange shade (RAL 2011) after 1990 or so. Before that it was all tan.
  21. Glanderg could well be onto something on the possibility that this release was a bit of a rush job at factory level. Just comparing the Galway Mk2s that have the more technically difficult livery bang on and fixed finer detail issues like door details. The release before that of the two IE standards fixed quality issues in the buffers and roof ends lifting off. It's almost a case of two steps forward and one back.
  22. Some people still haven't got the memo yet. €372 + €28 postage for a Lima 201! http://www.ebay.ie/itm/LIMA-205159-IE-CIE-IRISH-RAILWAYS-CLASS-201-LOCO-216-RIVER-DODDER-MINT-BOXED-nc-/331422674305?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item4d2a54ad81
  23. Have to say I agree with all the recent posts. I would consider myself to have decent selection of MM products at this stage. I will still be buying the ST Mk2Ds despite their issues and intend to get them fixed up at a later date. I am very happy with the 141/181s and Cravens and with the 071s for the most part. The last batch of 201s were a disappointment with issues on all 4 locos. All locos had their numbers in the wrong font, they were not even close to the correct size as earlier releases. The cab side numbers were in the wrong position on the NIR locos and the livery was not right all around the sole bar and lazy effort with the silencer covers painted in blue. The Enterprise locos lack small livery details with logos that the 12 year old Lima locos featured. Yet they went and got detail like the white fillets on 230 correct. This is in stark contrast to the factory that produced the 071/111s. Thay got detail like the unique 141 window frames on 112 correct and 082's name plate. Yes the 071s have issues with some locos still having their tablet catcher plates fitted and or in the wrong colour like on 078 and 085 but most of them are spot on. PM needes to go back to the producers of the BGMs and Cravens and stay with them for any future releases as the 201s and Mk2s are really letting the side down. Paying €180 for a loco and then having to fix big livery errors that are clear as day to see even if you are standing well away from it are not on.
  24. The RPSI have it in Whitehead for the past few months.
  25. Ah, I remember them well. I had the one in the first post, well two actually and a red one. Also had a nice collection of 11 coaches for them but red metal bodies and a different style plastic roof to the one Dave posted. That was until our pet dog at the time took a fancy to them one day and she chewed the roof off 7 of the coaches and scratched the paint on the locos. As a wee young fella I was reduced to tears at the time.
