  1. That was only used on the ex Gatwick Mk2F coaches. It was never on the Mk2B/Cs while they were used on the Enterprise before being replaced by the DD stock. The Mk2Fs entered service in 2001 and were mainly used on commuter runs between Newry and Belfast. From time to time they filled in for Enterprise failures.
  2. What's wrong with the 47ft LX wagons or is it a case of not enough of them.
  3. Marks Models have 111 and 113 in stock. It's 112 that's proving to be rare one even though 504 of them were made compared to 252 copies of 111 and 113.
  4. 112 got new LED marker lights fitted while it was on long term loan to IE and got replacement cab windows from a scrapped 141 and these are featured on the model. 111 and 113 still have the as delivered marker lights to this day while all of IE's 071s and other locos got LED marker lights.
  5. The spray coach was a laminate I think, it was not the Mk1 used today that is about 6-7 years on the weed spray now.

    MK3 Scrapping

They stared chopping at Northwall before any were scrapped at Belfast. The Mk3 cut in half and the half on it's side have been left like that for a few months now. Interesting to see some CPWs there. Great shots of 077 "saving" the last of the Mk3s, one hopes.
  7. Those are not Mk3 bogies, they look like B4s. Odd.
  8. There is a thread here covering Mk1 GSVs in detail, I'll see can I dig it out. There are two types of Mk1s IE used, BCKs and BSKs so you have a choice on the window and door layout. I forget which one is easier to convert to. SilverFox models the BSK version and I've never seen anyone do a BCK version. IE used 16 of the BSKs and 6 BCKs. http://www.irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/1276-Generator-coaches-for-MkIIa-and-MkIII-coaches/page2
  9. The ol 201s, if only they could have their required silencers removed maybe more folks would like them. Jump to 3:20 in this vid and listen to the music 233 is making with it's temporary silencer mod. It reportedly gives them a bit more power too but not recommended by GM.
  10. Get 073, it's the best factory weathered loco out of the box I have seen. That and 088 in GM golden brown are my two top 071s of the lot. 078 and 085 annoy me with their black tablet catcher mounts, they were never black in their modeled liveries and won't get them because of that.
  11. Hornby have 2 Mk3s out in Network Rail yellow as it is and one of them happens to be a buffet coach, the other is a standard with some blanked out windows. Code is R4457. May be worth a look when we see the real things roll out.

    MK3 Scrapping

7607 already has it's genys removed, notice the two holes in the roof at each end. If the train is to be air braked then that will mean modifying the 42ft flats to air brakes.

    MK3 Scrapping

They are going to have to convert the brakes to vacuum on 7607 for the weed spray train. Don't know how easy that will be for the lads in Inchicore or has it ever been done to a Mk3 anywhere before.

    MK3 Scrapping

I wonder why are the two Mk3s moved from Waterford going to Inchicore and not to Northwall for scrapping up north?

They can get 7 max in fine without fouling the points. The first set that went up was a 7 piece rake and from the photos posted online there was no issues getting them in to the scrap siding.
  16. As much as I'd love a few 121s, at the same time I'm not in much of a hurry. The reason being is that once PM releases the 121s where do we go from there? Is that it from PM. Do we get the MM treatment for a future A and C class maybe.

I reckon at least 3 more runs of 6-7 coaches depending on how many, if any will be kept. The big one will be to keep an eye out for 6305 and the Cafe/Bar coach.
  18. Is that the controls for the doors on Mk3 PPs next to the drivers door? Looks a real retrofit job alright.
  19. Were the grills replaced or something from them to be like that? No other 201s were like like that. Think 230 had grey filler pieces too since it went into Enterprise livery.
  20. All 201s got new LED marker lights from around 1997-1999 at the same time the mods for moving the MU sockets was performed. All 34 locos got the new lights and 32 got the socket mod.
  21. 203 and 220 cost more then the other 201s when they came out as production cost in China went up that year. Now though there seems to be more 203s and 210s around than the other 201s. About the NIR 201s, I hope they get the old style marker lights right on 208 and 209, it would be a nice touch. On the subject of 203, anyone know what happened the real thing before it got it's yellow face. From looking at photos it got white fillers on it's foot holders at the front and a white radiator grill.

We'll see if 224 takes them to Dundalk and then another 201 with TPWS takes them from there another day. It will be 224s first time on the northern line in about 5 years if it runs them up to Dundalk.
  23. I believe is was because of all the bashing the Lima 201 got for lacking in detail, so Murphy said right, I'll show them and so the new 201s came out to silence the nay sayers.
  24. Wow, just wow. Mr Murphy really is spoiling us. Better start putting in some overtime.
  25. Not until all the 201s and Mk2 are released and a good number leave the shelves. I''l be getting 2x 230 and 233 for re numbering to 206 and 207 anyways. The Galway standards have yet to be released too.
