  1. 077,078,084 and 087 all skipped the black and silver livery. Of the locos that have it the new one, 071,077,078 and 088. 071 is the only one without the logos on the sides of the cab. 078 is still not back in traffic even though it was painted up before 071 and 088.
  2. 086 has at least two orange doors, tow on the same cab and has had been sporting them for a few years now.
  3. Of the 201 class I have 4 favourites all for different reasons. 220 and 227 are may top two then 223 and 207. My River Blackwater is the pride of my 201s. I plan on getting another 220 to turn into 227, another for 223 and when 230 is released, one to become 207 maybe with the yellow face.
  4. Has to be 084 in the state it was in up until it was stopped for overhaul a few weeks ago.
  5. Don't know about 087 except that it was in the worst condition of all the 071s then it went in for overhaul almost 3 ago years now. At the time there was speculation that 077,078 and 087 would not be out again. Still waiting for 078's escape after 077. Reports are that 088 is sitting in Inchicore in slate grey livery. It was last reported working a timber train on 31/1/13, that was a quick turn around.071 took longer.
  6. Excessive HEP use. 206 burst into flames almost 10 years ago working the Enterprise, the loco was almost a write off and spent about 18 months being rebuilt and re wired. The 201s were not designed for HEP and GM recommended against it but IE wanted it. 208 and 231 failed in the last week too. As soon as the EGVs are returned to service the better. 230 won't be working trains for a long time.
  7. Seeing as I will be stuck in work for all of this bank holiday weekend I decided to treat myself today. The flash is overkill and makes it look like the room was dark but the lights were on.
  8. I was reading on Wiki that Deutche Bahn have said that if the Trust ever managed to get Tornado hauled through the Chunnel to their network they would left them run Tornado as fast as they wanted to see what it can do. They seem more relaxed over there than the UK that are only going to allow them to run Tornado to 90mph.
  9. How can the UK take their vacuum braked Mk1s to 90mph and beyond when even our Mk2Ds are/were 75mph limited? Can't purely be down to bogies. Great to see the A4s being able to stretch their legs again.
  10. I better start looking for some overtime so. I thought 077 was subject to change due to the "late addition".
  11. Never noticed before but why did the Huns have a gangway buffer like they have on some UK locos? Love the weathering on Falcon btw.
  12. Any update on the ETA of 111 and 8113? Are they on route from China or held up with customs?
  13. It was a DART mock derailment and DFB response time exercise. The DART left Connolly with pre-briefed passengers and ran non stop to the "derailment point". The DFB crew were dispatched from Pearse Street.
  14. The new 071 livery is almost a throwback of the 121 as delivered livery looking at that cover pic. Is there any way to get copies of the older IRRS journals? I remember reading one that I found one in college in 2003/4 that covered the then new 2900s is nice detail.
  15. I'd love to see what D&M could come with for a 22k RTR model looking at the great work they did on the 2600s.
  16. It's short hand for the 22000 series ICR sets. NIR shortened their 3000 series make by CAF to the C3Ks and then C4Ks. So rail fans have shortened the 29000s to 29Ks once then went form the 2900 to 29000 series with the follow on sets being delivered. And the 22000s to 22Ks.
  17. Speaking of the blanking plates on 203, wonder will they be included on 230. They make it easier to pick out 230 from 206 or 209 at a distance.
  18. They are indeed. I got 1504 on ebay the other day for about €45, 1149 the 1st class went for about the same money. They are hard to get alright but the other 5-6 can be found handy enough and pop up on ebay all the time but are on the pricey side usually. You like to get a few done in RPSI blue livery but the yellow detailing would be hard.
  19. I was wondering this myself and I think it was around 2002/2003. I was going through pictures online to try and pin down when the black roofs came in. I have never seen black and orange roofs in the same rake but I'm sure it must have happened like when the mixed Cravens liverys ran together in the late '80s to mid '90s
  20. Strange that 223 could not run around and haul the train seeing as it was a DVT failure. Leaving the Thunderbird loco in place.
  21. It's the 201s and Cravens they are trying to clear. The 141/181s are more or less sold out everywhere.
  22. They generally run in a mix 1 + 3 formation. In sets of 8 or 4. An odd 6 wagon set was in use, 2 gennys and 4 standards. The genny units are usually at the ends of the rake. When they were ordered the 24 wagons were to be formed up as an 8, 6 and 4 wagon formation, this didn't go to plan. Using 5 of the 6 genny units, leaving 1 genny and 5 unpowered as spares. Wagons 51001-006 are the genny units, 007-024 are standards. There are pictures online of a formation at Limerick Junction, I think, with genny units mixed in to the middle of the formation but this was for a stock movement and not in use.

    My new baby!

As it is 077 still looks brand new from the paint shop despite spending 5 weeks so far on the taras and a small ballast run to Dundalk. I saw it on Friday afternoon in the sunshine at Killester and only the bogies are rust brown.

You can put it with some autoballasters, 077 did a small stint with them between Drogheda and Dundalk one weekend. Looks far better than the freight livery, think the yellow face just takes from the whole thing.
