  1. That was me, another poster said it was a black and tan 071 number unknown. It could only be 084.
  2. That was covered on the old IRN site years ago. Can't remember but I think the loco on the Mk3 set set failed and blocked the section. The loco was taken off the timber to rescue the Mk3 train while the loco service with the cravens had to hold to allow the late running train to overtake. Could be way off though.
  3. I find it interesting that the loco screw coupler is not tightened all the way and there is a good amount of slack in it there even if it was.
  4. Yep, 156 is in that lot. Third pic in.
  5. 156 is a rare one. It's the only IR/IE 141 without the day glow panels. 156, 181 and 184 are on my "to get" list if and when they pop up anywhere.
  6. A model of 084 in it's current condition would be great. With the missing logos on the cabs and the paint body work filler showing through. Need to get 085 sprayed and numbered for it.
  7. I couldn't take credit for most of it. I have some well respected sources who are on the ball.
  8. 222 and 234 seem to be regular freight locos lately and don't end up on the Mk4s as much as the others. 223 and 232 are other regular freight 201s. 209 has gone back to Mk4s seeing as the Mk3 EGVs are acting up and 209's HEP equipment is out of action long term so it won'tbe on Enterprise duties until all the EGVs are back in action. Other than that they seem to swap around.
  9. They are being used as a source of spare parts for the rest of the fleet. Some are missing major engine parts and one even has it's fuel tank removed. 225 needs alot of work to ever come back again and is just left sitting in Inchicore. Suppose if they needed to, 216 and 225 would be the two to come back first as they can be rotated onto the Mk4s as needed.
  10. Is there enough spare locos is another question. 18 071s, 1 confined to Inchicore, 3 in overhaul, 2 needed daily for the taras, leaves about 12 for current freight flows IWT, timber and DFDS and PWD duties plus wagon transfers. There is 22 active 201s, 11 stripped of major parts, 1 damaged waiting repair for over 2 years, 4 needed daily for the Enterprise including a spare, 9 needed daily for Mk4s including a spare at Inchicore and Cork. Leaves 7 over for IWTs, timbers and DFDS freights. Fairly tight if there was another freight flow added.
  11. Something about the side profile MM Mk2s looks off to me all the time. I don't know what it is but the body shape looks like it is too long from the underframe to the windows. The only time they look right to me is when I have them titled back for a very low angle. To me the Lima Mk2s look more accurate in overall shape but they are shorter in length for some reason.
  12. Would be good fun loading and unloading the IWT and timber liners under an OHLE the way IE do it now. Would be nice to see something like the UK class 90s, 91s and even the 92s over here.
  13. Relating to the 201 class. I did read before that a 201 in HEP mode on the Enterprise can do a max of 1.5 return trips on a full tank. Shows how hard the engine is working.
  14. Yep, 230 is but it has the old Enterprise livery with the yellow panel, 207 and 233 are in the revised yellow face Enterprise with brighter purple "thumb prints" livery.
  15. Brilliant:banana: Now, one more surprise I'd like to see would be either 207 or 233 in yellow face Enterprise. It would complete the 201 livery list.
  16. Is 111 a respray or a great surprise?
  17. Part of the reason they were rarely seen on them was that there were 15 of the class and not all had their air brakes commissioned when the Mk3s entered service. The priority was for the 071s and 141/181s to be made ready to work them as the 141/181s would be regular pilot locos and the fact the 121s would have to be paired to a 121/141/181 to work a train.
  18. 078 up for €130 plus p&p, not bad. http://www.ebay.ie/itm/BACHMANN-MURPHY-MODELS-IARNROD-EIREANN-IRISH-RAIL-071-CLASS-LOCO-078-MM0078-/130891280492?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item1e79ba706c#ht_500wt_1414 First 071 on ebay for less than the RRP.
  19. I have a pic on my hard drive here of 174 and 175 from October 1991 at Balbriggan. Both locos have IR logos and no stripes. 174 is hauling Cravens, mixed with old and new liverys and 175 is on bubble cements.
  20. Just happened across a photo of 086 on the taras at Drogheda and it has the small IE logo on it's side. Is that 076 a typo ttc? or can we add another to the list.
  21. Unless I made a mistake the check number on 071 should be -3 and not -2. 92 60 0117071 x21 21 2121212 =1+8+2+1+2+0+0+1+2+7+0+7+2=33 33-30=3 Actually just looking at the photo of it in Inchicore it has -2 but I don't know how they calculated that. Using the method above that I got from the Wiki UIC page I get the -4 for 077 but when I use it for 071 I get -3 and not the -2 IE get. The check numbers can only be between 0 and 5 due to the multiples of 10 rule.

    077 let loose

    For anyone interested the 071 fleet UIC numbers are: 071 = 92 60 0117071-3 072 = 072-5 073 = 073-3 074 = 074-1 075 = 075-2 076 = 076-4 077 = 077-4 078 = 078-2 079 = 079-0 080 = 080-2 081 = 081-4 082 = 082-4 083 = 083-2 084 = 084-0 085 = 085-3 086 = 086-5 087 = 087-3 088 = 088-1

    077 let loose

I caught the afternoon tara empties at Raheny at 14:30 but 077 wasn't on it. If it's not on the other link I don't know where it's got to.

    077 let loose

Just noted that 076 is the same too. It has the different buffers on the fan end and the standard ones on the other but it had them even before is was painted into the freight livery. I missed the first laden tara this morning. It was running up to 15 mins early. For the past two weeks it passed Howth Junction between 11:15 and 11:35, today I heard it go by at 11 on the dot. I won't be able to catch any of the other links today to find out where 077 is.

    077 let loose

I don't think it was on the evening empties, it could be on them leaving North Wall any time between now and the next hour if not it will be tomorrow afternoon.
