  1. Probably to move the castle class? The 111s would need the Mk2fs to couple to the castle's buckeyes.
  2. For people who can't or don't have time to scratch build and paint Irish rolling stock it's not so bad. I know I couldn't put one together if my life depended on it.
  3. Wow, got that set last year for half that including postage in perfect nick.
  4. That was 084's last job for the time being. It is now in Inchicore for it's big overhaul. The days of the last loco in IE orange in service is over. I got some photos of it last summer when it spent a while on the taras thinking that it's days were numbered. Little did I know there was another year left in her.

Or else the fact that 111 and 112 were ordered together and 113 was ordered later as a follow on option. Because 111 is now 8111 like 8113. Again depends on what source the reviewer used I suppose.
  6. For the 141/181/071 brake hose connections. Starting from the coupler to the buffers, it's red (drivers side only) yellow, green. The 201s have just red and yellow on the drivers side and yellow only on the off side.
  7. Thanks lads. It's the Speno unit that had my interest. It showed up shortly after I got properly interested in Irish Rail in 2003 and always wondered what happened the vehicle after. Do IE actually own the SRS 242 wagon or is it on a lease?
  8. Yes, that's the one. Thanks, thought it was the Mk1s and not the Dutch vans for some reason. Would love to model that train. The 4 wheeler Sperry I can find pics of no problem from google. It was hauled around on it's own alright. Is that wagon still in the country or has it been replaced by the new Sperry?
  9. Slightly off here but does anyone remember the old Sperry wagon that was around 2005ish. There was photos of it up on the old IRN site before photopic went down and a lot of member collections went with it. It was a much shorter wagon and had a Mk1 GSV coupled to each end of it for brake force. There was some issue with the brake setup that required a cable running along side the loco to the rest of the train. The photo I remember of it was at platform 5 of Connolly station and was hauled by a single 141.
  10. Good to see 233 back on Enterprise after it's big failure at Clongriffin last September. I saw it train being hauled back to Connolly by an 071 at slow speed, seemed to be struggling.
  11. That was me, another poster said it was a black and tan 071 number unknown. It could only be 084.
  12. That was covered on the old IRN site years ago. Can't remember but I think the loco on the Mk3 set set failed and blocked the section. The loco was taken off the timber to rescue the Mk3 train while the loco service with the cravens had to hold to allow the late running train to overtake. Could be way off though.
  13. I find it interesting that the loco screw coupler is not tightened all the way and there is a good amount of slack in it there even if it was.
  14. Yep, 156 is in that lot. Third pic in.
  15. 156 is a rare one. It's the only IR/IE 141 without the day glow panels. 156, 181 and 184 are on my "to get" list if and when they pop up anywhere.
  16. A model of 084 in it's current condition would be great. With the missing logos on the cabs and the paint body work filler showing through. Need to get 085 sprayed and numbered for it.
  17. I couldn't take credit for most of it. I have some well respected sources who are on the ball.
  18. 222 and 234 seem to be regular freight locos lately and don't end up on the Mk4s as much as the others. 223 and 232 are other regular freight 201s. 209 has gone back to Mk4s seeing as the Mk3 EGVs are acting up and 209's HEP equipment is out of action long term so it won'tbe on Enterprise duties until all the EGVs are back in action. Other than that they seem to swap around.
  19. They are being used as a source of spare parts for the rest of the fleet. Some are missing major engine parts and one even has it's fuel tank removed. 225 needs alot of work to ever come back again and is just left sitting in Inchicore. Suppose if they needed to, 216 and 225 would be the two to come back first as they can be rotated onto the Mk4s as needed.
  20. Is there enough spare locos is another question. 18 071s, 1 confined to Inchicore, 3 in overhaul, 2 needed daily for the taras, leaves about 12 for current freight flows IWT, timber and DFDS and PWD duties plus wagon transfers. There is 22 active 201s, 11 stripped of major parts, 1 damaged waiting repair for over 2 years, 4 needed daily for the Enterprise including a spare, 9 needed daily for Mk4s including a spare at Inchicore and Cork. Leaves 7 over for IWTs, timbers and DFDS freights. Fairly tight if there was another freight flow added.
  21. Something about the side profile MM Mk2s looks off to me all the time. I don't know what it is but the body shape looks like it is too long from the underframe to the windows. The only time they look right to me is when I have them titled back for a very low angle. To me the Lima Mk2s look more accurate in overall shape but they are shorter in length for some reason.
  22. Would be good fun loading and unloading the IWT and timber liners under an OHLE the way IE do it now. Would be nice to see something like the UK class 90s, 91s and even the 92s over here.
  23. Relating to the 201 class. I did read before that a 201 in HEP mode on the Enterprise can do a max of 1.5 return trips on a full tank. Shows how hard the engine is working.
  24. Yep, 230 is but it has the old Enterprise livery with the yellow panel, 207 and 233 are in the revised yellow face Enterprise with brighter purple "thumb prints" livery.
  25. Brilliant:banana: Now, one more surprise I'd like to see would be either 207 or 233 in yellow face Enterprise. It would complete the 201 livery list.
