IRM At The Dublin Show 2022 - Just What Will We Announce?

And aren’t accurascale already making Sub-urban mark 1s -
Indeed I’ve had 3 people offer 141 locos in the 120-140 range…amazingly I managed to get a 141 with DCC from Germany for an extraordinary price, for which I'm forever thankful . it actually works out at being my cheapest loco I have ever purchased…and some of mine are 2nd hand with no DCC! Not at all, I’m genuinely curious is all! I was potentially taking a leap into another era of models if they were hence the interest. Paddy has had enough people whinging, I wish not be another one! At Inchicore works I did tell him I’d love a 141 to come out once again. good news for IRM too. If I had not had a 141 at this stage there is a good chance I may not have pre-ordered the Fertiliser wagons. Now that I have one (and by the looks of things a few more will finally have one. A few IRM wagons may start selling out a bit faster…

I say it as in an announcement like this I’d expect some word about them? Again I have all day saterday to enquire about them….

To quote Ed Fahey “this isint like the stock market, it’s only going to go up.”
-
Don’t get me wrong, 2 years ago when I was only starting out I was begging for a re-run of a 141! Now since I have one I’m less so! Hopefully they make 142 as that’s a exact 141 I was going to make out of my 141

Had me wondering. What has become of the 201s, mark 3s, ect. Presumably we will find out when we ask ourselves saterday

Hot off the press: From Murphy models Paddy will be showing pre-production samples of Class141/181 locos this week-end at the MRSI show. There will be 1 new fleet number in each of the four liveries (CIE, Supertrain, IR, IE) in both loco types. There will be a number of improvements, including the fitting of a speaker. No guidance on price due to the volatility of currency markets. Also at the show he will have examples of the Mark2d coach in IR livery. As before, there will be 1st., standard, composite, restaurant and egv. Photos to follow. There will be a new bogie to conform with the prototype and will facilitate 21mm conversions. of course this happens the second I’ve bought a 141 What do ye think of this rumour?

If your starting out. A lick of grey or black paint, red buffer beams and some basic transfers and your good to go the problem I find at the moment is finding a good source for those CIE buffer beam and side Numerals. I’m currently living off the ones from SSM with the bandon tank kit but am slowly running out….anyone know another place for good ones?

with 4 announcements…..there is very little chance anyone will be left out. Unless of course you happen to model the Waterford and central ireland railway or Cork and macroom direct railway. In which case i would be a little more skeptical! Roll on 50 minutes! -

The IRM advent calendar is almost ready -
Will add them….didn’t know about the JE ones. Harland and wolf one particularly interesting. Are they still in production? it seems I even forgot the RTR CB&SCR shunter that’s sitting on my desk staring at me

It really is up to you. While I’d like to go Full cork bandon and south coast railway. I found it more practical to stick to what’s out there and maybe as I gain experience work my way back lol you could make a the station in its “prime” in the 1890s or 1930s and run 1950s/1960s rolling stock on it with a different head cannon to what actually happened. For instance my grand plan is to build a kinsale Junction layout based on the autumn of 1960. Having the CBSC mainline and the kinsale branch(In spite of the fact the kinsale branch was lifted In the 30!) and maybe even the quarry branch which closed earlier again… I’m not sure what ran on that line in GSR days but there is RTR GSWR J-15s and a CBSC Shunter (which 100 percent never ran there!) both in GSR livery out there somewhere. Coaches from this era should be easier to make up I’m sure you know the story with what’s available with Early CIE era rolling stock to suit A30

Welcome “flying snail” very ambitious project you have planned! All pre grouping can be difficult. It would all obviously have to be scratchbuilt unless a suitible conversion exists out there somehwre? (Hattons genesis coaches would be my first port of call) @jhb171achill have you got anything lying around somehere? Maybe even ciril fry had a model of something or other

Indeed they do. although unfortunately for my list….even the most modest of lads at Inchicore would call an 800 class a “small shunter”
