Went about replacing the chip, easy process aside from trying to track down the 30 seconds of a 49 minute video I needed! First cab off with little force The rest of the locomotive shell off with a bit of prying (beyond terrifying) the DCC chip that once lay within the locomotive….has IE enscribed on it to be fair!

I’ll give it a go before I try take the loco apart. Although I’m acutely aware that keeping the decoder in it is just sitting on something others want a lot more then I do..

Westport Quay and the Project 42 Inglenook
Westcorkrailway replied to Sean's topic in Irish Model Layouts
I stayed there many times in the my youth, never coped that it once had a Railway View. Returned there last year and cycled the whole greenway which starts just around the corner -
Might be simple stuff but all new to a DC simpleton like me
-
Ok I may have To search the box a bit . I suppose if I were to remove the decoder, that chip would go in its place?
-
In anticipation of the New Fertiliser wagons, and with huge help from @murphaph. I managed to get a 141 locomotive for a more then reasonable price. Now all I need for my complete fert train is fert pack A (hoping somone has em at Camden model show) and a perhaps few pallets and forklifts Now for some help, does anyone know what the chip in the detail is bag is for? Perhaps part of the DCC also present is this old receipt from marks models, which shows you just how inflation on railways has been since 2007 (that being said I didn’t buy this for much more then the price as new )

Ids say it was much harder to source Flying snail transfers in the days of 100 percent brick and morter shopping!

As I said…i sold the entire rake as it was a commission for someone else….would have been comical to see a 6 coach rake on the West Cork in those days on both sides of the coach the snail is facing the driver unfortunately. However for a first ever rake of coaches there ok! Perhaps I’ll try again with another few coaches and correct my previous errors… (smaller EDN snails that are all facing the correct direction are available) the only locos I have to haul the stock anyway is a bodged together Ex-CB&CSR 479 and GSR 475
-
I’m looking at them keenly alright. I have enough transfers and paint left for 2 more coaches. Assuming the kits are easy to produce my first every project was those old GWR coaches. Both have snails the wrong way round on one side, my application of the transfer was terrible…but indeed they don’t look to bad they would probobly look better and more suited to the pre-55 green
-
I was selling those coaches and the buyer wanted a good look at them….no decent table meant it ended up like that…. the lack of “flying snail esque” coaching stock in circulation at the moment means these coaches get much attention! Even if (at least my ones are) pretty basic BR mk 1 conversions
-
Of course you could always use Railtec Eau de nil transfers. My coaches are post 1955 green but the colour would be similar to the ones you have. They also come with an optional high line and running numbers if necessary (Ignore the fact to fit then entire rake on the table that last one is teetering from death)

DWWR 1:1 scale building for sale

Very strange! -
The 201s did haul Mk3s in the early days. However the 3 livery’s MM plans to bring out (new logo IE green, New enterprise livery, Badger livery) never hauled em. I don’t think it would be too out there to suggest that MK 4 coaches will come sooner or later however currently there is a whole lot of A class locomotives with no passenger rolling stock currently available RTR so it’s it out of the question to have no stock for the new 201s

New Announcement - New Improved Fert Wagons at Lower Prices!
Westcorkrailway replied to Warbonnet's topic in News
An interesting photo from the RPSI website of the Ferts in use at Albert quay Cork. This very train is the one I wish to recreate….I wonder how much clearance there was between these wagons and the tops of the clontarf/Brian Boru bridge. The last train to Albert quay was a Re-engined Supertrain livery C class locomotive returning to a piece of the line they were built to serve. Tar traffic to the terminus had ceased some years ago. The North Esk yard effectively replaced Albert Quay. I will be attempting to model these trains as these were….kind of…at a squint…the last trains on the West Cork railway all we need now is some Back to back ferts and some oil wagons and the entirety of this yard between 1961-1976 should be fully possible to model (oh and C class locos varying from green, black, Black and Tan, black with yellow ends and supertrain!) -
The difference is I’ll buy a few of those as a posed to just 1 of the new 201
-
Do please….I’m waiting for that green 201 with the new logo eagarly…and it’s about 60 years after my era!
-
I’m on the way to Listowel and the traffic outside Macroom is a nightmare. So much so that whole stopped on river lee bridge. I spotted the now drowned river sullinane viaduct. A similar viaduct crossing the river lee is also drowned. Is there any other remains of rail line that can be found underwater?
-
What I would say the status quote still remains that we are still looking at the Very least a Q4 2023 release. Paddy said at Inchicore he was still in early stages with the 201s…and that was for models aperenly due last spring I really hope they still do come out. Those 2021 announcements have something for everyone

May I ask why the bags are green on this run? Did the fertiliser bags used to be green? -
Very interesting! although I’m right in saying the Black and Tans were more like the Green and kalkies anyway? So perhaps a little less traumatic of a medal… Perhaps Todd andrews looked towards his medal collection for some inspiration
-
I think I’d quite enjoy one novelty model like this. 121 fits it well probobly with that extra space within to work with and the fact the prototype often be quite Smokey in the later days of its lengthy career
-
I love the weathering in this loco, as I do the smoke. They compliment each other very well. accodning to the manufacture the speaker and decoder was moved to the rear area behind the grill and the smoke machine was put where the decoder once was (smart idea might I add)
