  1. On this day we celebrate the 37th anniversary of the establishment of Irish rail we turn back the clock to 02/02/1987 on Tara junction. Locomotive 080 is seen here arriving at Tara junction with a repainted set of IR liveried Mk2 coaches as the transition from CIE to IR begins….. Bus Eireann and Dublin bus also came into operation and we see an M,D,KR type buses in the new livery

  3. Friday night at the Lakeview servicing point we see locomotives 036 and 048 in for examination prior to working liner trains later on.
  4. Yes Denis, it was common practice for a barrier wagon to be at the front and rear of the oil trains-to “protect”the contents of the wagons from sparks out of the exhausts of the locomotive, The containers were empty.
  5. While looking for something else,I found a spare MIR MX two axle wagon kit, which was turned into a barrier wagon for the oil tank rake of wagons, Complete with a 20’ weathered container which was placed on the wagon-it has now been added to the oil liner-I am delighted with the outcome, it brings back memories of the real train I used to work from Claremorris twenty years ago.
  6. €229.95 for a DCC ready locomotive and add roughly €100.00 for the sound chip = €330.00, how times have changed-like George has said I’m glad I bought my ones back in 2007,add a speaker and a sound chip will be cheaper for me.
