  1. After a prolonged time out of service with traction motor problems 201 C Class loco 226 received an A exam at the MPD and after a request from the CME,the loco was given an out road trial hauling some laden bogie fertiliser wagons, With a trailing weight of nearly 300 tonnes 226 is seen here passing through the station-the trial was a success and 226 returned to the regular locomotive pool.
  2. 216 returned south from NIR last week hauling the bogie spoil wagons, it is seen here arriving at Tara junction where it ran around the wagons and propelled them to the siding. The S+E department were busy too installing the Train Tech ground shunt signals at various locations around the yard.....the one in the photo is interlocked with the points which lead to the Lakeview freight yard.. And finally Lakeview freight yard sees both retro liveried locomotives 071 and 073 arrive and prepare to depart with the IWT liner (071) and the DFDS liner (073) Happy Easter to all viewers of Tara Junction.
  3. Its all scrambled to me........
  4. Absolutely Superb- well done again gentlemen, the rotating axle caps really capture the actions of the prototype, You have really put the main model manufacturer's to shame with this standard and level of detail and accuracy. And an order has now been placed........
  5. Hi Northman,I'm not sure of the actual size of the washer-I got them off Jim in Mark models in Dublin.
  6. In readiness of a busy 2018 for the RPSI a number of the Cravens coaches were brought in to the MPD for examination. The purpose of the work was to fit washers to the bogies to improve the ride quality, It was a busy morning at the MPD when the team of volunteer's under the instructions of Stephen and Joe shunted the first coach 1505 into position by loco 076 in order for the jacks to lift it off its bogies, All went well and as the following images show the work was completed in a short time, Thanks must go to the Irish rail CME team who facilitated and assisted with the work.
  7. 12/03/2018, Still working away on freight and permanent way trains 071 and 073 are seen here arriving at Athlone with the Sperry/Weedspray train and 073 is seen crossing the Shannon bridge heading into the West with the IWT liner.
  8. The shape ways 42' bogie LX wagon gets a test run behind loco 226.....
  9. I received my 42' LX wagon about a week ago-I was impressed about the quality and finish of the material, It was an easy model to finish after priming and painting and the bogies were fitted, Here are two photos of the nearly finished wagon with transfers and couplings left to be done. I would have purchased more but thanks to the team at IRM I will wait until their model is released.
  10. Very nice Jason..
  11. 0117077 is seen here in Lakeview freight yard with the DFDS CPW liner The driver has by propelled the liner back to allow ease of loading by the reach stacker, All this is taking place while under the watchful eyes of the yard supervisor.
  12. Technically it was classified as -"Spark proof brake blocks" even though it wasn't the brake blocks at all- but the plating that covered the bogies......
  13. Gentlemen an excellent choice of wagons-the 42' bogie flat wagon being a particular favourite of mine and a DCC fitted plough van thrown in......WOW well done.
  14. Looking forward to seeing Ballyredmond and others..... the hotel is booked for the after party....
  15. I thoroughly enjoyed the exhibition, one of the best in years, excellent layouts to be seen and lots of bargains to be had. Roll on next year=highly recommended A selection of photos from Saturday.....
  16. I have nearly finished my 201silver fox bodied locomotive,I used a 141 chassis to improve running, I also fitted a 181 loco sound chip in order to recreate the replacement GM B645 engine which were fitted to the real locos in their day I purchased the A/C class detailing kit off des at SSM to improve the look of the loco and also gave it a repaint. Here we see the loco on test with the IRM ballast hoppers. Another view from the present is of retro liveried loco 073 working a reconfigured Sperry train with the addition of a bogie spoil wagon attached to the rear for added brake force..and 071 working the IWT liner,
  17. Its 075 as 074 is in Westport and 086 is in Limerick.
  18. Lovely photo-the yards covered a large area. I see a B+I 40' container on the bottom right of the photo.
  19. For that particular type of vacuum brake pipe I used some black electrical wire, I used it for my C 201 class upgrade.
  20. Just to add to the above photos, although both the LP and timber wagon have the same type of bogie ,the timber wagon has an extra set of brake blocks located at the outer end of the bogie, see the second photo for this feature.
  21. A risk assessment was done of the location and it was recommended that the wagons should have the loading/unloading equipment at the western end of the silo to facilitate a quicker discharging process etc. WREENEIRE-thanks for the photos.
  22. Done-best of luck lads
  23. And just for a comparison here is the 47' LP bogie flat wagon 30237-with the 62'9" timber bogie wagon behind.
  24. In a scene reminiscent of the 1970s,CIE loco 161 is seen here at the Lakeview freight terminal having shunted three 'brand new' orange cement bubbles into position for unloading, with more of the bubbles waiting their turn to be discharged behind that.
