  1. Paul,I'm delighted you have decided to venture down the OO gauge track, As with your previous fabulous N gauge projects I have no doubt this layout will be up to your usual high standard, Best of luck with it....go DCC as you won't regret it-I haven't, I'll be watching your progress with interest.
  2. Nice one Des-another useful alternative and badly needed.
  3. The driver of 161SA notches off power while passing through Tara Jctn Station with a mixed rake of Park royal and Cravens coaches which are forming a relief special following 086SA on a Mk3 Super train set.
  4. Tight curvature going into the Dublin Port sidings means that the instanter couplings need to be lengthened before entry otherwise they would break with the strain put on them. Thanks hg for the clarification.
  5. Hi Railer, Generally the 42'9" wagons are referred to as LPs,and the 47' as LXs, The LPs and LYs were the first into service in the early seventies, There are no LYs in service now as their bogies became non standard, The LYs were used predominantly for Guinness traffic, along with the LPs and LXs. The LXs came into service during the late 1990s as it was found IE would need a longer wagon to cater for the 45' 9'6" high containers-they were extended by using the buffers and headstocks from former fertiliser wagons and indeed some of the bodies of the fertiliser wagons were used also From what I'm told there are now a sufficient number of LP wagons refurbished for the forthcoming biomass traffic. An LY wagon with the now non standard bogies.
  6. 0117076 is stabled for the night on the up station siding at Tara junction with the Sperry wagon and weedspray train, Arrow liveried 2601+2602 await the road into the MPD from the up loop road. The yard inspector oversees proceedings and is using his Massey Ferguson 135 for transport. (Thanks Andy)

  10. Good evening gentlemen, After an enjoyable exhibition at Blackrock at the weekend-and pints in very good company afterwards,it was time to head back to the junction... I couldn't resist purchasing sound fitted MM 161SA as it was the first (of all) the 141/181 class locomotives I had had a cab ride on over the Ballina branch, After fitting all the brake pipes etc-and having given the loco a slight weathering ,it was time to give it a test run, I'm delighted with the quality of the sound and all its features, Here we see the loco heading for the fuelling point-and joining 071 locos 084,087 and 088, On the far road we see ex works loco 080 in the new IR livery.
  11. Morning gents, A loco swap took place earlier-7071 was due an exam so it was removed from the timber train and replaced by orange liveried 077, 077 is seen here after arrival from the MPD with 0117071 heading for the MPD.
  12. The order has been placed-see you at the exhibition for a chat gents

  15. Impressive work there Dave, well done.
  16. Afternoon gentlemen, I've always liked the weed effect on old sidings at stations,so I've tried to recreate this with this scene as it has blended in well with the hillside, I'm happy with the result, 190+146 have charge of the branch train which comprises of a BR van,a Cravens coach and two Park royals.
