  1. After a recent spate of failures on the real railway to a locomotive and a permanent way machine,071 locomotives were dispatched to recover the failed units back to their respective depots for repair, I was fortunate to be able to recreate both scenes in model form. When 201 class locomotive 234 failed in Ballina retro liveried locomotive 071 was sent from Inchicore to haul the locomotive back, Here we see 071 hauling 234 through Tara junction station, Again when track recording inspection car EM50 failed at Boyle station, locomotive 080 was sent from Connolly station to haul the machine back to North wall and ultimately Kildare plant shop. Here we see the unusual sight of 080 hauling EM50 in the opposite direction through Tara junction station.
  2. I was delighted finally to get my hands on a Dapol HST Intercity 125 book set in its iconic blue and grey livery, It is a fantastic model and is certainly no comparison to the Graham farish version which I also have, The power cars have directional lighting and a smooth running motor, I also purchased three weathered TTA tanker wagons which are seen here delivering fuel to the MPD behind 47 635.
  3. Well done to the team at Accurascale for an excellent presentation and display last Saturday.

Some shady looking characters here...... Well done lads with the announcement of the Deltic-I was delighted to be there at the launch and to witness a very professional team in operation. Here are a few photos of an enjoyable day out...
  5. Well done gents-a fantastic looking plough van. Really like the addition of the red tail lamps.
  6. A new addition to the motive power fleet at Tara junction is a Sulzer 101 B class locomotive-(thanks to Wrenneire.) 107 is seen here shunting the IRM two axle bulk cement wagons into position for unloading at the Lakeview freight yard, 107 is confined to shunting duties at the freight yard a duty it is sharing with 161. It is fitted with an eight pin Zen DCC chip with a stay alive capacitor and runs well, even at a slow speed, The locomotive is in Supertrain colours and I have given it a light weathering to the body and bogies.
  7. Best of luck with your new project Jason.
  8. I have nearly completed my RPSI 3173 GSV,I used the Bill Bedford/Mousa models brass overlays, Good luck with the build Robert.
  9. Gents, Now that your announcement about the release of the A/001 class locomotives is just over a week old, what locomotives are proving a popular choice so far?
  10. Shortly after the Arrow departed from platform one 087 weaves its Supertrain set of MK3s across the point work and into the platform..... The second photo shows passengers waiting for the Guard to enable the automatic doors to allow them to board..

  13. Ex works IR liveried 071 class locomotive 080 hauls three stored unserviceable 001 class locomotives.001,056,034 and a barrier wagon to act as a brake force through the station, It is reported that the locomotives will form part of a sound barrier at the MPD before a decision is made on their future......
  14. A- D class Atlantean in Dublin bus livery adds a splash of colour to the depot.....
  15. Delighted with the news of the forthcoming and much needed 001 class,I nearly chocked on my breakfast with the news on Saturday morning prior to attending the exhibition, Deposit paid-looking forward to the painted samples in due course, Thank you Fran, Patrick, Stephen and Richard for making the dream a reality and every success for the future....
  16. Some activity from an enjoyable evening at the junction earlier... After its tour of the layout 0117076 arrives back with the Sperry and weed spray train, shortly afterwards 0117078 arrives with a HOBS set and is seen here running around the train and propelling it to the siding, 071 passes with an empty timber train to Ballina, while retro liveried 2600 railcar 2601+2602is stabled between duties on platform one. Over at the MPD the fueller advises the depot controller of the amount of fuel that locomotive 221 has received, before its release back to traffic .
  17. Recently transferred from the Scottish region to Ashburton grove for services in West Yorkshire is a three car class 101 DMU ,it is seen here arriving at the MPD for refuelling-and later doing some driver training runs......
  18. Having been transferred from the Limerick junction Divisional engineers department over the last few days P&C Tamper 750 is seen here shortly after arrival being examined by the Permanent way inspector and his deputy at the per way sidings. The model is from the HO Lilliput range and is DCC fitted-it fits in well with all the other machinery.

  22. After shunting the Sperry wagon into the formation of the weed spray train at the Per way sidings,0117076 draws the train forward up to the platform at Tara junction, In a floodlit nocturnal scene the permanent way staff are busy breaking up some old track panels .the Sperry/weed spray train awaits departure.
