  1. Looks really attractive in that retro green livery - another "station" for a bite to eat for anyone even vaguely interested in trains - I wish the new owner well.
  2. Thanks John - an interesting and encouraging read. George
  3. Fabulous bus collection Noel - it does indeed look and feel like the quays around Bachelors Walk, Perhaps predictably, progress being impeded by the orange BMW ! - although it's quite a rare and collectable vehicle in "real life" - a BMW 2000i !
  4. Superb story-telling video, wonderful modelling and of course your outstanding layout - excellent Noel. George
  5. Hi, Just in case this is of interest to anyone, Hattons are offering Hornby SR green composite coaches for £16 compared to the RRP of £29.49. May be of value to someone.
  6. Beautiful Modelling Paddy - well done. George
  7. Excellent pictures jhb171achill. I regularly watch Mark on "Donegal Dad" and follow the great work though his output. I hope to visit this summer.
  8. Superbly detailed atmospheric modelling Patrick - congratulations. I spotted your placement of the "more sporty" or "premium" versions of cars - the cream/white & green striped Cortina - was the livery of the special "lotus" version, while the orange Austin 1300 (guessing here) has the sports wheels and special colour of the better versions. Lovely memories - (I also like older cars !). George
  9. Thank you "connollystn" for the compliment - much appreciated. Thanks also to Warbonnet, Galteemore, BosKonay, enniscorthyman and Rob. I note some temptation from WRENNEIRE ! - actually I bought a couple of perfect MM 181's from him recently, very pleased. Regards, George
  10. This lovely model arrived and is in situ in a typical disused siding setting - congratulations IRM on another excellent product.
  11. Tremendous changes taking place in the wider Barrow street are for almost two decades now - mostly for the better. Great recent pictures, and as for the traffic "log-jam" - amazing collection. Well done
  12. lovely story telling - that low level shot in the cutting is fabulous.
  13. Spot on John and jhb171achill - lovely enveloping natural feeling light and warm tones. You can see I used a very similar lighting approach in my recent diorama "IKEA shelf Diorama" in Layouts. In fairness this form of lighting is rather difficult to achieve for those with a larger fixed layout in a darker room or attic space.
  14. Hi trainboy, That's a great discovery, intact and so far from home - I wonder what the fare might have been from Howth Head or Sutton Cross to Perris Valley CA ? , I guess that's one for the actuarially smart folks with a knowledge of the local fare structure pertaining at the time, and the time value of money calculation, (not me )
  15. Hi Patrick - Many thanks for the recommendation, I'll also follow this up. Thank you, George
  16. Thank you so much for the interesting alternative DJ D - much appreciated.
  17. Hello, Having completed, and learned so much, from my small scale Diorama, ("IKEA shelf Layout" - Irish Model Layouts), I'm at the planning stage of my larger layout. I plan to use extruded polystyrene board, amongst other material, for the basic scenic foundations and then proceed to more subtle topographical landscape formation (I used multi purpose polyfilla last time which was just ok - on top of the excellent woodland scenics plaster cloth). I have read/observed many modellers use "sculptamold" for this purpose, but I've not been able to identify any suppliers here in Ireland. Can anyone inform me of a source in Ireland, or indeed a suitable appropriate alternative. Thank you, George.
  18. The Garda Ford Ranger, or "bakkie" as the South Africans would say, looks impressive.
  19. I had a most enjoyable afternoon at the show yesterday - congratulations to all at WMRC and all the tremendous exhibitors. I was in awe at the talent and creativity on display, learned so much from open, sharing and warm chats with Enda and Eamonn on "Past Avenue" and "Bushville" plus sage advice from Gerry Byrne on "Shunters Yard" and many more. So many layouts to admire - I particularly liked "Weston Interchange", "Rathmicheal", "European Tramway", "Old Farm", "Little Siddington" of course, and finally "Over the Hill". I just watched Nick's excellent video - I even spotted myself . George
  20. Hi warb, I was so captivated by this posting that I went right back to the very beginning of the thread and read every page - what can I say, except to echo all the accumulated compliments and comments of so many others. Spellbinding modelling skills and incredibly atmospheric depiction of a part of the city I know very well - Congratulations
