  1. Excellent work
  2. This is as good as a tutorial, looking forward to the next episode.
  3. I missed this post Andy, looking forward to seeing Murray's Factory completed, it will really finish of that area of the layout.
  4. Some pictures of my UTA Railcar Set No.s 6 & 7.
  5. I should have excluded you JB, yes they are UTA Railcar No. 6 & 7. They were the experimental build by the UTA after the AEC Railcars and were the forerunner to the MED fleet. Built from a brass kit by Worsley Works. I'll post a video in my Kirley Junction thread.
  6. A test for members, Two Railcars but what are they?
  7. A good bargain for someone, A Sulzer kit for £59 + postage. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201478319568?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  8. Excellent video skills to match a suburb and unique layout. Also it goes to show those like myself who only go and look, the amazing work and commitment undertaken by exhibitors. Well done.
  9. Fantastic - a thread currently running to 5 pages on RAILCARS, I can hardly believe it. Keep it going please.
  10. Thanks Guys, the consensus would be the Dome shape would be the nearest. http://www.dartcastings.co.uk/images/mjt/2942_1.jpg
  11. Thanks Richie, but even from your vast photo archive you can't produce a close up of the ventilators probably because no one thought to photograph them. The current vents on sale are Ridged dome, Scalloped dome, Torpedo and Shell and a quick Google search for Flettner ventilators on railways coaches suggest a different shape to those mentioned above. As a modeller the first thing you see of a coach is the roof so it's nice to get it right. Apologies JB for taking your thread in a different direction.
  12. Thank you John for posting these drawings, great detail including the location of roof vents, great for modellers but what did Flettner ventilators look like back then?
  13. Thanks for sharing Raymond, great photos
  14. It's been like that since Heirflick mentioned many moons ago, must have a word with the Crane Man.
  15. NIR DH Class Some pictures of this English Electric locomotive introduced by NIR in 1969. The video shows No.2 in action on Kirley Junction.
  16. Thanks John, confirmation that these wagons were grey in the late 60's
  17. I find a big difference between the RTR coaches (plastic) and the brass coaches. With the inclines on my layout 6 brass coaches run OK. I haven't tried a bigger number of RTR coaches but would think it would pull the 10. I have added weight to the locomotive which helps in its pulling power. I have already been told off about my not so deliberate mistake -mahogany it is. Still waiting to see pictures of your layout, long time promised.
  18. Lots of good information David, thanks for taking the time to share.
  19. Kevin, found the instructions, send me a PM with your email address and I'll forward them to you once I've scanned them.
  20. Will have a look this evening, should have a set.
  21. Yes please David
  22. Now that's that more or less settled, all I want to know now is how many wagons existed, on photos I only see 2 numbers 4 & 8?
  23. I see in an old NIL an advert for Alphagraphics card kits: CC70 Ranks grain hopper wagon (red livery) £2 CC71 Ranks grain hopper wagon (grey livery) £2
  24. A new addition to Kirley Junction. Congratulations to the builder, made from plasticard on a Bachmann Class 3 chassis. More pictures later on this week.
  25. Thanks to everyone who contributed. So the Jury is out on whether it was Red originally but towards the end of it's working life Grey would be the colour to go for.
