My two cents worth would be for steam era water columns. Irish period ones are just that little bit different to English railway columns. And they seem to have lasted well into the diesel age. Indeed their is one hiding in some big bushes at Dunmanway station on The CB&SC. Pity it will never be needed!

Bet that start up was really popular with the residents of those houses! Job for a Sunday morning.

I remember those CL 305 or something similar. We used to ride on them from Bescot/Walsall into New Street and back and they were very bouncy going fast! Love the Bombay Emu and the Hindi/ Sanskrit ? transfers? brilliant. Now I know those Midland coaches are in safe hands.

One thing that always puzzles/surprise's me is a steel under frame and braced axle boxes yet it looks as if only one brake lever and brake block or is it mirror imaged on the other side?

The palethorpes wagons are not very free running if mine is anything to go by. Is one axle higher than the others? a little bit of play in the center axle may be all it needs?

Just had a browse through Golden Arrows cat; he does a white metal kit for an Isle of Whight Rly Beyer Peacock 2-4-0t which would be a good starting point for the D&SER tank. No connection with Golden Arrow except as a customer. Just thinking about Irish locos and conversions from British "near fits & misses" what I think would help is a range of GSR loco chimneys and the flush type smoke box door to improve the loco "face". I for one would happily purchase if one of our 3d printing aces produce some. I have looked at white metal ones and the tall British GNR comes close. But,but,but!

Golden Arrow Models in Hastings will sell you a nice resin tender which he uses on the Stirling O1 kit he does. Would fit the bill a treat, mine cost about £13 but quite a few years ago.

Hi Keano, look in Forums,workbench and go down to Kingsbridge-Kaydee coupler conversions. It's Noels thread and it is very helpful with words and pictures.Tells you what worked for him. I have used the info and will again I'm sure. Hope this is of use.

The extra width in track gauge seems to give a more "beefy" presence, muscular! Track and loco look very good. And welcome to the forum.

For another source of industrials to fit Hornby chassis check the Railway Mania store. He does a Avonside B4 0-6-0t body to fit the Hornbt Pecket 0-6-0. I believe that was the type that was at Derry docks. I have not built one but they do look rather tasty. The only downside for me of Irish Modelling is the huge variety, its too easy to feel as if I'm drowning in projects!

My swimbo says I over think most things, "of course not dear"the danger then is its easier to do nothing then you cannot fail! Maybe a bit of modelling blundering is just fine? Perfection? nah not me!!

Totally agree with NIRCLASS80, Charlie is a Yorkshireman you take him or leave him. I dealt with him by mail order recieved what I paid for and not too expensive. For dcc and sound I think he is first class and will stand by his product.

Dempsey is to be congratulated on the weathering. The rusting on the J 15 chimney and smoke boxes is fantastic!

Guy's I think it looks brilliant! and that comment comes from somebody who in his yoof chucked, with great skill!, a few tons of coal in quite a few of em! The copper chimney cap looks super fine on my pc! and I thought the copper only went over the lip for about 2/3" not right to the top. I also did professional engine polishing! The vaccum brake handle in the cab should be to the right for running and left to apply. Can we not have a very fine chain from the firedoor handle to the peg under the flap so minime can flick it up when firing? And the boiler water gauge really really needs a page three girl, Daily Mirror/Sun, behind the gauge glass. That would be perfection, we all did it. You know it makes sense. Maybe a little un pc for modern woke modellers?

How difficult/easy did you find both kits to do? I did a Bandon tank a few years back and I thought it was not at all difficult. Like the colour of the 800.
