  1. Being working on a model of the Cork engine depot to go with my cement works and its a biggie. I was originally going to build this in plaster cast from plastic brick molds, but having seen Richie's work I decided to do it in card. The main structure is built from 2mm card over layered with 220grm card printed from photoshop via autocad. The doors and skylight is made from plastic strip and painted. The roof is pressed tinfoil and painted. Its 1.6m X 60cm in area but I'm thinking of reducing this by 6 arches on the main shed although I'd prefer to be true to the actual building. Feedback appreciated. Here's a bit of painting detail I added to the cement depot.
  2. Thanks Richie, I'll give it a go. Didn't even know the direction of those wheels mattered...wiring is not my bag!!
  3. Lads I'm getting fairly frustrated here, I just had my Aclass lighting working perfectly using a 9v battery directly attached to the motor, but when I tried to run it on a small loop the engine wouldn't budge. It eventually moved when one of the none powered bogie wheels was slightly of the tracks. However this caused the two main bulbs and resisters to blow:((. I don't think its a problem with the lighting wiring as when I detached the lights from the motor the problem persists. The donor is a Lima class 50 not the best runner I know but its all I could get my hands on at the time. Any help would be appreciated.

  5. Great photo's, thanks for sharing.
  6. Stunning work Gareth, was there a thread explaining how you built these and if not would you consider doing one, I'd be very interested.

  12. Well done, looks complicated! I'm going to start mine any day now!
  13. Great photo's Richie, didn't realise there was such an array of stock still lying about, particularly the bulk cement wagons, thought they had met the cutter's torch a long time back. Do you think it would be possible to get close enough to get some detail shots or are they completely inaccessible.
  14. That K class looks great, battleship grey really suits her. Well done.
  15. That's some layout you have, very jealous.

Sulzer arrived yesterday, thanks Des, she's looking good with lots of bits and pieces for me to get my head around, looking forward to getting started on it.

  21. Well Richie you've done it again, top marks. Great idea with the layering tin foil, must give that ago, I presume you use pva as the glue.
  22. Thanks for all the kind comments. Still have to sort out the lighting on her though, thanks to Ger711 for talking me through it and doing up a diagram, now just need to get stuck into it.
  23. Wow, now that's a thing of beauty. Love the rust effect.
