Just a quick update on the workbench. Some very slow progress on roofing the Cork shed. The roof corrugated effect was done by pressing layers of glued tin foil using a plastic card template. This work is extremely tedious so to alleviate the boredom I have started modeling the girder bridge on the eastern approach to Cork station.
Hope you like.
That was a brave move with the roof, one that has payed off handsomely. Your making an excellent job of her so far, I think she'll look great in that livery as well.
and a run on a Cork-Cobh train in the hands of 150. THAT was lively. It seemed like the jointed track there was made of two-metre-long lengths!
Some of those Cork to Cobh rides could be scary as hell, always felt like the train was lifting to one side as it rounded Harpers Island on approach to Cobh Junction (Glounthaune)!!! You'd get knocked against the window and sometimes there'd be a loud bang of what was left of any suspension on the Cravens.
A nice glass of wine to celebrate getting the lights on my a class to finally work. Big thanks to Ger711 for helping out here. I've included the diagram he drew for me so I hope it can help someone else.
As promised hope you like, as I said I shot these in Cork around '89 - '90, wish I did a lot more, but in the days before digi cameras you watched how many snaps you took!!
I have a couple of detail shots of them I took in Cork around '89 - '90. However there's no trace of the original colour on them as they're heavily weathered to a brownish black. I'll have a route round for them and stick them up if your still interested.
