A class shiny (but usually dirty) silver please!
-
I was thinking that too but couldn't find a picture....

Above is a page of the Waterford and Tramore railway by Fayle and Newman. I've run into some confusion. The middle photo shows Tramore station 1959 when the track had been largely removed bar a single line. The bottom picture shows the station in 1960. The track seems to have been reinstated less than a year later! The whole line closed in 1960 so I've been led to believe the track was removed, relayed and removed again in the space of less than a year! Is this correct or an error on behalf of the publishers? (Not trying to damage their reputation, just seems hard to believe!)

121 class in silver 1950s livery. Cc1 in black and tan??

How many Clayton's were there? Did they all end up on the W&T or were some of them immediately scrapped?

Finally made a start after 40 years.

Glorious! Looks to be grand drying weather there anyway! -
Spurred on by Mol and out of fear I might miss out I duly placed a pre-order and I was pleasantly surprised that I was entitled to discounts with the very few points I had built up. Very much appreciated AS/IRM!

Or none if modelling tramore in Railcar days! Unfortunately, the aul Leaving Certificate is getting in the way of my modelling at the moment. I'll get back to it soon. Just a month or two to go....

As someone who is (sort of) in the process of modelling the w&t this is honestly incredible. Captures the site perfectly!
-
And sure while your at it you may as well put out a few W&T coaches too!

Suppose the Tramore driving trailer is a bridge too far??

Only had the pleasure of meeting the man once, in Blackrock college last year. Was very complimentary and overall struck me as a gentleman. Looking back I just wish I had realized who I was talking to at the time. Rest in Peace.

Just said I'd throw out a quick question on the off chance somebody "in the know" could help, Has anybody any idea what time "An Sairseal" will be passing Kildare this Saturday? I'm passing through the area and hoping I might get lucky.
-
Where can I pick myself up one of these? Perfect for my totally unprototypical layout!
-
Was not expecting such comprehensive replies within 15 minutes! Many thanks gents.

Just gonna throw out a question in case somebody may know the answer. While at least one of the examples on the Waterford and tramore was converted into a driving trailer for the AEC railcars, would anyone be able to shed some light upon which of the green liveried options would be most similar? (Although I suspect they're all different in reality...)

Well to be fair it's one of the few places in London I know. It's actual location within the city is unknown to me!

"Voiding the Warranty" - Mol's experiments in 21mm gauge
Metrovik replied to Mol_PMB's topic in Irish Models
I'm actually struggling to believe that this is the same scale (albeit different track width) as my own trains. I can really see the draw of 21mm here. Great work (not that it means much coming from me!) -
While I'm yet to tackle a complete kit of my own, let alone a scratch-aid. I must admit, you're doing a good job persuading at least one more person to possibly dig out the soldering iron here!

Never realised Sambo was a derogatory term til now, I had always thought they named the loco after a sandwich! (That term actually dates from the 1970s)

Might be a UK only thing, I can purchase it form Amazon.ie if i wished. Not that I'd waste my money or support this criminal.....

I thought this was railway modelling. What you've shown us are clearly pictures of the prototype!

Well, 1 month later and I'm heading to a much tougher crowd this weekend! Be sure to say hi and point out what's wrong with the layout if your at the show!
