Oh how I envy you, you got to grow up with 121s, A class, loose coupled trains and getting a rides the guards vans whereas the year I was born the first ICR made it's arrival. Fabulous story. I look forward to seeing this layout becoming reality.

Believe it or not, this project isn't dead in the water, and despite distractions some progress has been made with the station, albeit very recent. The station has been moved out so that now it covers 2 tracks and the issue of visibility has been addressed by the addition of Skylights. (Inspired by hueston station in the great train robbery). The station has overtime morphed into a heavily-inspired by but not accurate representation of Tramore station, for example, the skylights as far as I can tell were never present there. What is in Tramore is a small wooden toilet which I've tried to represent here. I'm assuming this would've been dark Gsr green? Finally, on the rolling stock front, Spurred on by the impulse of not being able to get them ever again, I've pre-ordered 2 hattons genesis coaches, Now I know its a shock I bought something new, let alone something I have to pay import tax on, but desperate times call for desperate measures. The skylights will be lined and filled in with clear plastics, similar to Metcalfe kits, which are what I used to cover the roof supports. The little Jack's...... The distraction...... As usual, all suggestions are not only welcome, but encouraged.

Seems to be rather the edgy talking point amongst British enthusiasts on Facebook who view Waterford as a Tourist railway rather than a heritage one, The main complaint that seems to have been made is that the engine is in as withdrawn condition and should stay in a museum, ideally in Britain. Should probably tread carefully around this one.... I'm all for having steam in Waterford but at the same time I'm trying to decide if this is the right route......

Any information regarding specific dates and times of 10/11/12 icr movements?, would be quite the sight to see passing through the station.....

Thanks lads unfortunately I've ordered the dark green ones so no grey 121 haulage,(without a very good reason) @jhb171achill I noticed that earlier on in this thread that you said the dark green coaches lasted until 1955 with some lasting until later, may I ask, what were the circumstances surrounding this?

Excuse my question but I'm a little late to the party on this, would these coaches be out of place behind the early livery 121 class? Having shockingly bought something new for a change I need to stretch out the use of these as much as I can.....

Also I've got a 30 watt soldering iron, is that enough of a middle ground to do both wiring and kit building in 4mm scale.

Having recently acquired a soldering iron, I've been looking to get into brass or whitemetal kits and was wondering, could anyone suggest a good place to start/ one that wouldn't be too difficult? Irish would be ideal but nothing is out of the question.

Also when the weather's bad on the island they take the roads in and keep them in a big warehouse on the east side, would the railway lines follow suit? Have a train solely for shipping these
