  1. Too big for one post apparently.... It has to glass sliders, one for green one for red. The red picture is annoyingly blurry but I'm not going back out into the cold tonight... It was like the worst birthday ever, trying to blow this out.... And that's not to mention the fumes
  2. Picked up one or two things myself a while ago, One of which is this Lantern. Nice little piece if do say so myself. I'm highly doubtful that it's Irish though. I've a funny hunch that it's Indian, maybe some of you more knowledgeable people might shed some light on it. Enjoy the photos of my Kitchen too! Now for the potentially controversial part, I actually use this lamp, I get things should be preserved safely but I feel that since I've paid for it, I might as well use it. Plus it looks fair nice in the dark. I've only just realised how rusty it looks in that light. I can assure you it's not that bad.
  3. Not sure about the distance between Durrow and Attanagh but Mountrath station is actually known as Kilbricken and is situated a few kilometres outside the town, as for the line to Kilkenny starting there rather than Portlaoise , I'll have to disagree with you as I've checked the old O.S. maps which show the track going from MaryBorough (Portlaoise) and when overlaid with modern satellite maps it's possible to trace the trackbed right to Abbeyleix. The reasoning about Abbeyleix being a posh town so that's why the station's there is interesting. It fits in with a similar story that I've heard being that the De Vesci estate gifted the land for the line to the railway company for free, in exchange for it building its station there. Interesting about Durrow though, never heard that one before.
  4. I can see that the wagon bodies are made from either plastic or mount board but how may I ask, did you get the chassis together for them to sit on?
  5. This may cause offence, but are those triang coaches being hauled by the GNR tank?
  6. https://www.cie.ie/CIECorporate/media/HistoricAnnualReports/1971-1990/CIE_1972-1973.pdf This has probably been discovered before but it makes for a very interesting look back in time.
  7. Having just learned about the 30th anniversary of the 2600 railcars, it begs the question, will these receive a similar retro livery treatment?
  8. Reminds me of when I googled how Dick van dyke was doing, some luder claimed he'd had memory loss and took a dive into an empty swimming pool. Needless to say he's alive and well.
  9. I'm not on insta but I'll try and see it somehow...
  10. Sigh, it's threads like these that make me crave a big running session with members of this Forum....
  11. Prototypically accurate I hope?
  12. It's going for how much now!?!? You could get a professional model maker to make any loco you want for that price....
  13. Looks like he........met his match with this
  14. I for one am not losing interest in this project, especially not one so close to home.
  15. It's projects like these that make me feel like I should model something a bit more........orange.
  16. Beautiful work on that distillery, May I ask how you made the roof slates?
  17. Oh how I envy you, you got to grow up with 121s, A class, loose coupled trains and getting a rides the guards vans whereas the year I was born the first ICR made it's arrival. Fabulous story. I look forward to seeing this layout becoming reality.
  18. Stunning Model, Alan, although I've always felt that the UTA livery looked a bit like the Graham farish shredded wheat loco....
  19. Believe it or not, this project isn't dead in the water, and despite distractions some progress has been made with the station, albeit very recent. The station has been moved out so that now it covers 2 tracks and the issue of visibility has been addressed by the addition of Skylights. (Inspired by hueston station in the great train robbery). The station has overtime morphed into a heavily-inspired by but not accurate representation of Tramore station, for example, the skylights as far as I can tell were never present there. What is in Tramore is a small wooden toilet which I've tried to represent here. I'm assuming this would've been dark Gsr green? Finally, on the rolling stock front, Spurred on by the impulse of not being able to get them ever again, I've pre-ordered 2 hattons genesis coaches, Now I know its a shock I bought something new, let alone something I have to pay import tax on, but desperate times call for desperate measures. The skylights will be lined and filled in with clear plastics, similar to Metcalfe kits, which are what I used to cover the roof supports. The little Jack's...... The distraction...... As usual, all suggestions are not only welcome, but encouraged.
  20. Seems to be rather the edgy talking point amongst British enthusiasts on Facebook who view Waterford as a Tourist railway rather than a heritage one, The main complaint that seems to have been made is that the engine is in as withdrawn condition and should stay in a museum, ideally in Britain. Should probably tread carefully around this one.... I'm all for having steam in Waterford but at the same time I'm trying to decide if this is the right route......
  21. Any information regarding specific dates and times of 10/11/12 icr movements?, would be quite the sight to see passing through the station.....
  22. Thanks lads unfortunately I've ordered the dark green ones so no grey 121 haulage,(without a very good reason) @jhb171achill I noticed that earlier on in this thread that you said the dark green coaches lasted until 1955 with some lasting until later, may I ask, what were the circumstances surrounding this?
  23. Excuse my question but I'm a little late to the party on this, would these coaches be out of place behind the early livery 121 class? Having shockingly bought something new for a change I need to stretch out the use of these as much as I can.....
  24. Also I've got a 30 watt soldering iron, is that enough of a middle ground to do both wiring and kit building in 4mm scale.
