One of the things that Lima were always well known for was the relative coarseness of their wheels. However, I am pleasantly surprised at how well my two Lima 201's run through Peco code 75 pointwork - no hesitation whatsoever. Stephen

Does anyone have information about the alterations done to the two mk2b FK's to produce buffet/snack cars 4401/2? There is a photos on the VCT website but it isn't very clear whether the windows that were filled in were on the corridor side or not. Many thanks. Stephen

I was very interested in the photo of FO 1146. It is basically a first class version of the 1449-1496 series of SO. The drawings I have of this coach show it having two toilet windows per side but photos show it with either one and two windows per side. Was there any rhyme or reason for the different versions. Stephen

The morning train from Limerick arrived at Waterford around midday but did not depart for Rosslare until some 5 hours later. During that time where was it, in the through platforms 3/4 or the bays 5/6? Stephen

When IR rebuilt the ex BR coaches they acquired from Vic Berry, were they all laid out as open coaches? I ask because two of them were mk2a FK's and I wondered how they dealt with the middle door on the corridor side. In order to fit it in, the adjacent windows were in a slightly different position to all the others. Maybe they just blocked it up! Stephen -
I recently picked up a copy of Irish Railways Past and Present by Michael HC Baker and in it, on page 48, is a picture of a Bell Line train leaving Waterford for Dublin, 17 container wagons plus brake van! The days when old ways of working had not quite been up to date for the modern railway. Stephen

Bearing in mind that so few of the Park Royals had toilets when first in traffic, a lot of their turns later in life were on long distance services with few stops. Seems like you would have to cross your legs rather hard on occasions 'cos you couldn't rely on neighbouring carriages having toilets! Stephen
