  1. Hi all, Recently one of my class 50s failed, and since it was my favourite, the other one, which had a better chassis but worse body shell donated it's chassis to the failed loco. Now I have a shell and chassis spare, however the lima motor is utterly dead, and im wondering if it is feasible to refurbish it with a central can motor based drive system built on the original frame? I would quite like to try this as im looking for a project to focus on, and I have a soft spot for lima.
  2. Does that make ttc ringo starr? Love the pictures btw
  3. If you know the BR 12T vans, painted grey and decaled with a snail or broken wheel logo can look quite passable
  4. Oh I know heirflick, I understand the cost involved, I wasn't really serious, just talking.
  5. Hi all I was just thinking, if Mr Murphy eventually makes a 121, would there be possibility of packaged pairs, with one motor loco and one dummy? As im sure most people will want a pair (maybe 124 and 134) but you dont actually need two locos to haul a model rake, and it would make them more affordable? The dummy units could also run with the Murphy's 141/181 class I know I would put my name down in a flash if this happened, anyone else thinking along the same lines?
  6. I like the 121s as much as the next man, but honestly I would say the 071s are more popular, especially as they are still out and about. On the subject of liveries, I think it would be amazing if IE did a few 201s up in past liveries as a ' Heritage Fleet' a la NS. I have it in my mind that they would look good in black and tan, or maybe all over green with white line, or even original 121 livery
  7. It must have been a corporate identity success, as it remained in use (albeit updated) right up until 2008(?) when the mk3s ended. I can imagine it must have looked striking when it was new.
  8. Railer, I had the same terrible trouble with the pockets on the MK2s. Thankfully I only have one, the rest of my MK2 stock is airfix resprays. I had to cut the end of the coupler, it just absolutely would not budge
  9. Thanks jhb, I had been wondering that for a while. It's a lovely livery
  10. Jhb, this might sound silly, but is the tan on the RPSI babys actually CIE tan? Because I have been around 142 a number of times at whitehead and to my untrained eye the 'tan' looks like the last Irish rail orange? Im probably wrong, having obviously never seen the babys back in the sixties and seventies, but just curious?
  11. I'll second the super glue idea, I did just that on my EGV. Make sure you glue it far enough out to go round curves without buffer lock
  12. Is there any particular reason Inchicore built these with such a funny looking wheel base? Surely even wheel spacings would be advantageous in terms of weight distribution?
  13. I think kadee make under and over-set shank couplers to counter act dodgy pockets. Bachmann definitely do similar versions of the EZ Mate, but they are not NEM compatible, they're more like a number 5
  14. I know what you mean jhb, and I am just glad the DCDR is able to cater for diesel people so well, more than makes up for the lack of mainline runs. On the topic of DCDR, is there still talk of an ITG 121 or C Class going there in the future?
  15. Looks good. What power chassis will you be using? As I think they had a weird wheel arrangement
  16. Any idea when it will move? It hasn't been out on the mainline for a few years now sure it hasn't?
  17. Nice work, the grime on the cab roof looks particularly prototypical!
  18. I just passed York Road and saw a 201(207 or 233) looking like it was coupled to a 111 on one of the shorter sidings. Anyone know if it had failed on an enterprise, or just parked next to the 111?
  19. In case anyone is interested, Here's a link to a video of the floods today on my channel. They had gone down a bit before I got there with the camera. I also took the opportunity to film some CAF sets on the bridge
  20. What about a six pack with 2 gennys and 4 standards, if it worked out cheaper than buying individually they would sell fairly well i would think?
  21. Lovely scenes. What carriages are you using to represent the CIE cross border rake? Would I be right saying that MK2 stock didnt go on the Belfast line for fear of damage until the mid 80s?
  22. Did that 071/141 double header actually haul the liner, or was it just part of a shunt?
  23. That would be great! Just wondering, what parts do you have to install, and is it fiddly? As original genesis grab irons would have put you crazy!
  24. Horsetan, are there any UP or SP locos among the ones you are thinking of selling? Depending what type they where I might be interested
  25. Im somewhat inclined to agree. The RPSI seem quite anti diesel. I understand that steam makes more money, but some heritage diesels would be great
