Evening all,
I have a query about a bogie van in Des Coakhams, carraige book, which the Ulstermen, and possibly others, here may be able to help me with - and this is a bit of a long shot, so I've coloured up the black and white of it.
This was taken in Antrim on 12th June 1964 on a special working. It is a Class M5 High Elliptical vestibuled bogie van. More than likely constructed in Dundalk Works for the GNRI, then handed over to the CIE upon the big split. I've never seen anything like it, and am wondering what it's history is. I've trawled every B&W photo and source, and the only thing I can find is a cousin, here behind the tender.
Any help would be appreciated, as I do like peculiar prototypes, particularly of this era. And it doesn't appear to match the flowery stock of previous eras - has an Art Deco thirties thing going on. Richie.
