  1. Welcome aboard Driver, I've only seen photos of WellingtonBheag, but it's wonderful, especially given that it's N and all the bashing and hacking that's required! Seeing as it's Colbert, I'll be paying special attention, and looking forward to seeing it develop. "Know what I mean, kid?" For those unfamiliar with his layout work, heres a link to Wanderers photos of Wexford show last year. Richie.
  2. Lads, please keep the commentary coming. I'm working on one also for a Client, but have yet to receive the Class 55 chassis & motor, so it's great to be able to see the potential solutions before I get stuck into that side of things. Richie.
  3. Over Bridge Cork
  4. These three below possibly belong in their own thread, but since they were unusual, I thought I'd pop them in here. Mods, feel free to move if you to a historical thread if you wish. "Dublin 1914 - British Army Soldiers on Duty on Butt Bridge", Custom House in background, porter kegs at the dockside too. I have a problem with this since the bridge wasn't built 'til 1934 and they aren't on the swing bridge. Apparently same day 1914 troops leaving Tara street Station to go stand on the elevated richochet/sniper friendly bridge... "Troops protecting the signal box at North Wall Yard - 1911" GSWR can be made out on the roof of the wagon, and signal box reads "NORTH WALL YD". I don't think the top two are from 1914, either 1911 or 1920. Richie
  5. You're welcome - Full skinny on Cahir here... http://irishrailwaymodelling.com/showthread.php/829-Cahir-crash-1955
  6. A few I have from a chap who collects this sort of stuff... Hover over the image for date and place.
  7. off topic but was that including the CAD/CAM work also ( cos i could do that for nought.) With all the biomedical and pharma companies here, you'd think the guys who make their high end disposables and packaging could squirt out a bit of plastic for a fiver.... shocking really.
  8. Rich, fully agree. why there isn't a 20' flat is beyond me. I'm sure a run of 504 of them would sell, as an unpainted chassis only. Stephen, i'd like to see that sulzer come out of its cabinet, and or even a black n tan 141, pulling a mixed rake of passenger, goods, some oils, and all in back n white! When's the grand opening anticipated, i assume we're all invited and it's BYOB? :tumbsup:Richie.
  9. Des, nice work, though it's a bit cheap for a dapol kit and an etched brass kit for 7.50? I'll take the lot! (only messin, stick one in the post for uzz though, will ping on the squids in the morning.)
  10. That episode where anyone of guru status got a pint? Me neither....
  11. Thank you Dave for taking a model out it's box. We all know how difficult that can be. Even moreso since you keep telling me you're an elderly pensioner now. And the photograph, all the effort getting out you Box Brownie, and developing the film. We are deeply indebted to your efforts. I can't type anymore, the tears cloud my vision... /sarcasm off.
  12. Kieran, looking stunning all told, and I love the little stories surrounding the layout. The recession hit "plashtic paddy" village made me howl. How true! I'll have to send you up some trim for the base so you can eliminate the shadow gap between the platform and base, and some collars for the canopy supports, so you can raise it up level. Richie.
  13. Nor should you be. Glenfinnan in Scotland is probably the most famous curved viaduct but it's not that Jacobean legend. Before After It's Lowgill Viaduct in Cumbria. Richie.
  14. Fascinating use of stock photography - ("I'm a corporate rat by day, but a passionate relaxed modeller by night" and the photoshop with the bodybuilder! Mind you, some of the flats / bolster wagons look superb, and one or two resprayed would look fine on a rail layer train behind an 071. Page 99 in particular. Throw a dog a bone..then..
  15. I ordered loads of stuff from them a few years ago, and they dispatched it very quickly. Getting it delivered was an orderal though. I order quite a lot of IT components from the UK and find overwhelmingly that when it gets landside in Dublin Airport time slows down and Paddy couldn't give a sh1t whether you get your stuff or not. No amount of phone calls or chasing them will improve the situation. What does your tracking number show Dave?
  16. Nigel, that is very impressive all right. I'm not a "buses" person, but I appreciate the skill that went into producing the 3D model. Keep us posted on the 3D printing malarky, must dip the toe at some stage. Richie
  17. Nice post indeed Fran. Pearse Street had so much more in the way of shops and activity back then, but it's great to see the Wind Jammer hasn't changed a bit . Probably some of the same punters still drink there.
  18. Bit of a dander now for us travelling southsiders. What's the handiest public transport way of getting there? Best of luck with it though - much increase in floor space or much the same? Richie
  19. Barl, you win "Cheat of the week award". Nice tip!
  20. Garfield, Just a quick note of thanks to all involved in the archive effort. It's a stunning collection of drawings, information, memories & photos. Great reading for a wet sunday afternoon. Richie
  21. I think he mixed "narrow gauge" up with "wider than standard/european gauge".. basics minister, basics.
  22. Ouch, not even close. Aren't ours some french derivative - Y25C or something?
