  1. Letterkenny is one beautiful layout. Everything on it is top class work. The scenics, the buildings, the railway infrastructure, the rolling stock. I could look at it for hours. Although they need to sort out the electrics to stop the hand from the sky having to be used at exhibitions. Rich,
  2. Great Noel, I can't wait to see that. Rich,
  3. To be honest Fran my Beatles collection starts at Rubber Soul. I'm less of a fan of the earlier years. I think they became more interested in pushing frontiers within the studio at this time as they had decided to stop playing live. I love Revolver myself as it was a new direction for them. George Harrison seemed to have more of a lead position when compared to earlier albums and it has the first real hint of the bands interest in Indian music. Sgt Pepper wouldn't be my favorite album by the band but it did change things forever. It was the first album to be recorded in stereo. Everything had been mono before that. It was innovative and paved the way forward for lot's of bands. I personally think that Dark side of the moon by Pink Floyd is another ground breaking record. It was the first album by a band to use synthesized music, although in a primitive form. It was a game changer. Outside of British or American music there have been some great bands from Germany that don't get any credit. Most people would probably name Kraftwerk, The Scorpions, or Propoganda as the bands they know from Germany. Berlin was a great city for music and many artists from around the world were influenced by it's style and some great records were recorded there. Music is so diverse and so is my own taste in it, but there are some styles I don't like. I saw James Brown in the Point myself in the 90's, what a night. There was so much condensation rising off the crowd on the floor that it fell like rain when it reached the roof. Just as an aside shouldn't this thread be titled Warley 2012, back to trains. Rich,
  4. I think Benitez has a good track record at his past clubs excluding Inter. I think the alienation between himself and some of the other players was summed up when he substituted Torres in a game and Gerrard was stood hands on hips saying what the hell is he doing. He was gone shortly after that. Robbie Fowler and Jason McAteer were over here a few weeks ago and said similar feelings among other players had crept into the dressing room. Torres was a bit like Shevchenko Chelsea paid an over inflated price for him and stunned his confidence. The problem at Chelsea isn't the players, coaches, or managers. It's Abramovich he has no patience and he is obsessed with Pep Guardiola. Most Chelsea fans dislike Benitez because of past wars of words. I'm sure that if he gets them out of this current slump a lot more fans will come around. Rich,
  5. They are Kirley. I'll update as and when I have news. I think adding these and a few bits on the chassis should improve the model and take it a step nearer the babies and 071-112 models. They are superb runners and they really capture the look of the prototype. Rich,
  6. Fantastic models Noel, very expertly finished. I like the Clonmel bus personally. Rich,
  7. Did you check out the Stone Roses reunion gig Fran. More of a Lennon fan myself. Rich,
  8. Dave my set is long gone unfortunately. If I meet the chap again I'll ask him to check the item number on the box. I'll have a trawl around facebook later and see if he is a member. Rich,
  9. Where are you finding the time, it's really looking good. Rich,
  10. You are very welcome Gerhard. I hope you and your girlfriend enjoyed your holiday in Ireland last month. Irish Railways have a long and very interesting history and if there is any information you may need please ask. Rich,
  11. I love the way that the brake blocks line up with the wheels John. There's nothing wrong with the rocking W iron. I've seen some P4 4 wheel wagons running with them and the Bill Bedford type springing compensation within the same rake with no problems. Rich,
  12. I think Paddy Murphy know's his business very well, and he knows the market for Irish Model Railways better than anyone. I am confident that we will see a rtr one in the future. The prayers will of course be a great help, and I've just said one after the Angelus. Rich,
  13. Not surprised to see him sacked. It is so in line with everything Abramovich has done over the last three seasons. Win the FA Cup, Premier league, Champions league, get sacked. My brother supports Chelsea and he is thinking of cancelling his membership if Benitez gets the job. Rich,
  14. Seamus it would be heaven for me. Even one double headed with a 141-181 would look superb. I'd love to see 124 and 134 released in their last guise with the two cab windows blanked out at the nose end. I'm almost sure that 131 was also given this treatment. There's a great ground swell of support for Murphy Models so hopefully enough current models find homes and the 121 project may be resurrected. Rich,
  15. There were rumors a few years ago Fran that there might have been a Led Zeppelin reunion after the show in London in 2007. I'd have gone to that. I'll just have to make do with the new blu ray now. 2004, did Oasis and Paul McCartney headline that year. I think Muse did also. Rich,
  16. That's a great if rare photo of 135 nose first. It would make a nice little modelling project especially with 40 foot Bells on the horizon. It has me aching all the more for a 121 model. Rich,
  17. That is really great work Kirley. It's so atmospheric looking. It's taken a lot of planing and hard graft to get this far and it is really coming to life now. It's a credit to you. Rich,
  18. Dave I asked him about the loco and wagons. I asked him whether the loco had white strips and a logo or not. He said the loco was just orange and black so I assume it was a supertrain painted livery. I also asked him were there any extra bits on the roof and he said yes. I remember a couple of locos from the late seventies like that that had a similar detailing set added to the roof to make it look more like an A Class. I had a similar set myself. He said one of the wagons was brown with a CIE logo in white on the side. I asked him what the cars were like, he said there were four Ford Capri's 2 red 2 yellow. My old man had a Ford Capri when we were kids and that's how he recognized them he said the car carrier had a motorail sign on it. He also said one wagon was a white wagon but he couldn't remember what the logo was. I think there was a Unigate wagon at that time also included in sets. He's a clever boy because when I was finished asking him, he asked me was it worth something. I hadn't seen the guy in years. I do remember him having an uncle that worked in MB, and he always had loads of toys and games. That's how we got talking about it. I do remember vaguely some sets from that time. One had some repainted black and tan MK1 coaches with a gantry in the set. Rich,
  19. I met an old friend and neighbor yesterday. We were reminiscing about our childhood. We were talking about trains and he was telling me that he had found a Lima set in his parents house. He said the box was still in good condition considering all the years it had been in storage and the models were in really great condition considering he hadn't seen the set in nearly 30 years. He said it had a class 33 in supertrain livery, a box van, another wagon, a car transporter wagon with cars and unloader set. All track was there and the power controller still worked. He said his son is playing with it now and is having a great time. Rich,
  20. John you are too modest. That is more fantastic work, a great resource, and a marvelous tutorial for anyone wanting to attempt a foray into the etched brass kit building world. I agree with what's been said a superbly thought out design. Rich,
  21. John that is fantastic work. I love the Bullhead panel and the track bed. The flat bottom rail is beautiful work the soldering is so tidy. I've hit a brick wall trying to source a check gauge for 21mm myself at the moment the scalefour stores seem to not have them in stock. I'm in the same situation myself regarding starting a build. I'm going to have a purpose built railway room built. When it's built is thrown up in the air at the moment. This thread will keep me 100% focused and I can't wait to see more, especially the flat bottom track. Please keep us posted, Rich,
  22. That looks like a good day out. I'll take a trip down there myself next year. Rich,
  23. I was at the game that Chris Hughton scored his only goal for Ireland Fran. A 5-0 win against Turkey. I think Dave O'Leary got on the score sheet that day also. I agree it's great to see some lads that played League of Ireland football doing well. Most Tipperary hurling people would tell you that Shane Long is the one that got away. Rich,
  24. Fran what year did you attend Glasto. Never made it over there myself but it has definitely got to be the holy grail of festivals. I missed it not having taken place this year. Rich,
  25. Now that sounds good Patrick. I really look forward to seeing this progress. I think it adds a nice bit of interest to a layout to give it a bit of personality by basing it on an actual part of the network. It doesn't have to be a brick for brick exact copy of a scene. Due to unforeseen circumstances I couldn't start my own project this year and 2013 looks to be out of the equation also. Luckily though the lads on here are always showing their efforts so it's great food for thought and a nice way to pass a few hours checking it out. I will definitely be looking in on your progress on a regular basis. Rich,
