  1. It's when the controller 'remembers' the details and settings of the last bunch of locos you ran.
  2. Hornby's DCC 'implementation' isnt' 100% compliant to the standards, so really works best with hornby decoders. Your mileage may vary with other decoders.

  5. I've a lenz system 100. I find it very easy to use, nice and easy, and also very powerful and flexible. I plan on plugging it into a PC for computer controlling the layout and route setting in time... As one of the first 'standard' systems, I find it works great with all decoders and gives lovely smooth running.
  6. From memory, the headlight is F12 and the Cab lights F13? Not sure the select goes that high?
  7. Cracking!! Please start a layout thread and share more photos !!

  12. They are pretty good - will remove the screws tomorrow leaving them attached just with the sticky foam - see if it makes them much quieter! Drop me a PM if it suits to phone you in the morn?
  13. Quick update of 161 trying out the now motorised run 'round.

  18. Wow - a piece of history now!
  19. Cool Was hoping I'd packed it well :) Check with Seamus or Gareth I'd say, they'll give you a steer either way
  20. I'd say the stockists should be able to get parts from Paddy Murphy?
  21. Still one of the best Irish coaches all things considered those mk3s.
  22. If you have to buy a select, try to pick one up cheap. They are 'grand' but it's amazing the 'quality' of signal - and therefore running - you'll get from a slightly better system. I had a select, then upgraded to an elite, and found some locos ran frustratingly (stopping, jumpy running, etc). I picked up a Lenz set and all the problems went away.... lovely smooth running since.
  23. Roughly wired up now for testing, but the first pair of Digital Cobalt motors have been installed and mounted. I’ve used the foam sticky pads to mount them, the screws are holding them in place for the glue to go off. So far I’m hugely impressed, they work great, very quiet, and the auto frog switching is absolutely perfect! Even little 040 and 060′s trundle over the point now without a second thought! In the image above, you can see the little cutouts that come with the foam pads, allowing you to cover up the drill hole very neatly! Will look good once the point is ballasted.
