  1. I'll try and get some more up in the near future.
  2. Mmmm. In brass or on good quality photopaper or a transfer? Nice collection Dave.
  3. Thanks again folks. I've added a Youtube clip of the Walschaerts Valve Gear in action. 8 seconds of pleasure.
  4. And just to add, having properly looked at your Malahide...total respect. it is really lovely. Is that all printed paper you have used? Do you have an upclose shot of the polychrome section? and the entrance area?
  5. Damn, that is an awesome bit of kit.
  6. Got to be Aprés Match's finest hour. Vicious stuff altogether. And keeping "on topic", the Enterprise speeds are scandalous, that baby should be doing Dublin Belfast in 1:20 max.
  7. Snapper, plenty of them dropped over the last while. Thanks for all the good feedback lads. Glenderg, LOVE the frontpage of your PC. You did well to get taht shot, the lighting in Cultra is not the best and very hard to get a good overall angle of Maedhbh, but you managed nicely.
  8. Well, that pretty much tops any info I have....
  9. John, given I've only just launched the 800, not likely! Seriously though, if I do any other loco, it will be either a D17 or D19. But I have several other items that are close to my heart to do before I go near another loco or DMU.
  10. Studio Scale models are proud to announce the release of their finest and most detailed kit to date, the Great Southern Railways Class 800. The biggest and most powerful engines ever to run in Ireland, they were designed by Edgar Bredin with drawings prepared by H. J. A. Beaumont. This kit is dedicated to their memory. This is a brass kit with nicklesilver chassis and whitemetal detailing. As with all SSM kits, everything is provided "except for paint and labour". Etched numbering and nameplates are included for all three locos, Maedhbh, Macha and Tailte. A resin casting has been specially commissioned to represent the compound curves of the firebox front. Transfers, lining, plunger pickups and sprung buffers are also included. OO wheels and crankpins, gearbox, motor and Drivestretcher are also available to purchase with the kit. See http://www.studio-scale-models.com for further details including photos and pricing.
  11. Wiggy, I have some info from IE that I will look through and if I can glean any further clarification about how they are put together I'll put it up.
  12. Thanks Richie. I would have to agree. I feel (subjectively of course) that it's a case of "death by redbrick" in the UK in a lot of municipal architecture. We haven't covered ourselves in glory here, but the lack of development from independance until the mid '70's did mean that the glorious legacy of victorian vernacular architecture was left very much intact. And at least by the mid to late '80's the movement to preserve the pre 1930's legacy was well underway. Cut limestone bridges and facades in the south Red sandstone on the Achill-Westport line Old red sandstone in Cork The preponderance of granite in south Dublin And of course all the private railway master's houses and stations that have been lovingly restored and maintained. Newmarket on Fergus Virginia Headford Not to mind the open stations that have been superbly updated a la Heuston.
  13. Kirley There are plenty of mid sized stations still existing that you can chase up. To my mind W.H.Mills GNR polychrome and pale yellow design is one of the most beautiful of the irish system. Dundalk, Navan, Malahide, Ardee all use this pale brick http://eiretrains.com/Photo_Gallery/Railway%20Stations%20A/Ardee/slides/Ardee_20040430_0005_CC.html http://eiretrains.com/Photo_Gallery/Railway%20Stations%20D/Dundalk/slides/Dundalk_20080715_016_CC_JA.html http://eiretrains.com/Photo_Gallery/Railway%20Stations%20M/Malahide/slides/Malahide_20090809_032_CC_JA.html http://eiretrains.com/Photo_Gallery/Railway%20Stations%20N/Navan/slides/Navan_20080919_010_CC_JA.html
  14. Along with that whiskey, would a suitable set of transfer numbers and stencils do the job? I'll add it to the freight section, €9 should cover it.
  15. SSM transfers don't have feint lines either. Irregardless, I don't see the need to denigrate other non-specific manufacturers when advertising on this forum.
  16. That is just saweet.
  17. Frank, Lovely job, looks great and mighty atmosphere in it. Well done!
  18. Brought my young fellahs to see #4 at Mallow many moons ago (with cravens!! BR EGV!! and 186!!), and all they got worked up on was the bloody Thomas The Tank pywood mockup on the main platform. Kids eh?
  19. Believe you me, I found it very difficult to get any decent roof detail photographs. I did get one or two photos from lads on one of the old forums. I tried photographing overhead from a bridge, but didn't have an SLR at the time so it was difficult to get a well timed non-blurry shot. I'll find what I have and put them up. Richie, must say that EGV is spotless looking.
  20. Hi Snapper, Class job, some nice pics there! Weshty.
  21. Other than the one at Heuston, yup, Limerick!
  22. Rich, thanks for that, very much appreciated, fair to say, you have a few that I don't even have! Would some of those be Clonmel and Waterford now perchance?
