  1. What about the City of Campile?
  2. Sorry, Hunslet, only saw your question now about 6111. With no others, it isn't possible to have an AEC set as such on the DCDR, though in theory 6111 could be paired with a Park Royal done up as a driving trailer, like on the Waterford & Tramore. Laminate brake genny 3223 has already been converted as a push / pull car there and is used as such at times. However, the restoration of 6111 is an extremely major task, unlikely to see the light of day for many, many years. It was acquired as a long term project. It has no engine or control gear, this having been removed a long time before CIE withdrew it. Therefore, once restored, practicalities may dictate that it is used - certainly initially - as a push / pull car or observation coach. Even the bogies would require significant attention, and the bodywork will need little less than a total rebuild. But at least it's saved.
  3. Excellent!
  4. Very impressive, Chevron - excellent stuff! Well done - keep at it!
  5. Looks fantastic already! Plants are never easy to match.
  6. Superb stuff - extremely realistic.
  7. That's a 1956-ish laminate. There's the remains of half of one of the SLNCR clerestorey bogies on a farm close to the former Manorhamilton station in Co Leitrim.
  8. Either is correct spelling; ask my sister and daughter, both of whom have it as a middle name! (Often wondered why....)
  9. Somebody recently asked me why the standard covered vans built by CIE were called "H" vans. They were within the following series of class / type designations. H. "House" wagons (4-wheeled covered vans) I. Coal wagons (wooden bodied, later applied to standard corrugated "beet wagons", which of course weren't built soecifically for beet, but ended up being used for it long after all other uses for 4-wheeled opens had gone) K. Small Cattle Kn. Large Cattle Knv. Large Cattle (vacuum braked) T. Passenger vans known as "tin vans" Anyone know any others?
  10. Welcome to Waterford Halt. Will it be even staffed!!!
  11. Shows what can be done with a modest budget too. Superb work.
  12. I found an Inchicore official side-on pic of a 400 today. Must scan it....
  13. That's just about as good as it gets! Wow - absolutely stunning work!
  14. Original file copies from Dundalk. €5 each.
  15. Folks, this thing is of necessity destined for one of the main auction houses, as it's a very unique price of railway history and in a league of its own. It is the solitary artefact of Dublin & Meath Railway origin I have ever seen. It dates from that company's inception in 1858. I know the other items I posted are all "pocket-money" level, but none the less interesting and often unique in their own right. But this is a genuine antique of a calibre rarely seen today. In common with the other stuff, I'm offering it to our own community for way less than general market value. In my experience of buying and selling railway antiques on behalf of RPSI and DCDR over the years, I would place its worth at €200 / €250 upwards. I'll take €175 for it. It works perfectly, as the image of its stamp attached will show. This is by far the most (financially) expensive item I will post here.
  16. Original edition of a now rare collectors item book. Published in 1970 by the IRRS, written by Neil Sprinks. Probably worth about €35 or more - I'll take €20. Pristine condition.
  17. Pristine condition and including three colour postcards (shown separately). Shows some details of the internal railway working.:cheers: This is a small book published by the brewery. I think it dates from the 1940s. It is a very interesting history and description of the whole place. Great advice.....
  18. I'll take €15 for the lot. Plus an assortment of BR Edmondson tickets, 1970s.
  19. I listed a lengthy lot of these by mistake on another board. I asked the mods to move them here, which they doubtless will; here are further images of some of these, which are mostly 1950s UTA to late 60s NIR, but include a few gens from the Bessbrook, Clogher Valley, BCDR and Donegal lines. Best to read this in conjunction with my earlier (and longer!) post. €50 / £40. Two large shoe-boxes-worth.
  20. Obtained at German railway station in 1956. Unused. Very nice - €10 plus postage for the lot.
  21. Here are a few more. I never knew that Walker Bros., of Wigan, who made the last Donegal railcars, the Sligo Leitrim "B" and the West Clare stuff, also supplied some parts for these things.....
  22. €20 for an exceptionally detailed account of these railcars. Pity they never made it to Downpatrick or Newcastle.... well, maybe it's a mercy on the inhabitants of those towns - they weren't the most comfortable! This is a rare item. More illustrations to follow in a second post.
